Chapter 295

Morning.

The sun shone brightly over Holy Island, spilling through the window and into the room.

Beili got up, washed, changed into her academy uniform, went to the cafeteria to pack up a breakfast, then headed for the Basic Magic Class classroom as usual.

Only this time, she was not the first person to arrive.

In the corner of the classroom sat a black-haired, purple-eyed youth, quiet and composed. It was none other than Sainthos’s esteemed Prince Cyril.

“Good morning, Your Highness.”

There were only the two of them in the classroom. Once their eyes met, Beili had no choice but to greet him politely.

“Your Highness has come to Basic Magic Class again.”

“I like Basic Magic Class.”

Cyril gave the same answer as always.

Then he glanced at her coolly and said, “Bartholomew, sit beside me.”

It was an order.

Beili hesitated for two seconds before she heard Cyril let out a cold snort.

“What are you standing there for?”

His frost-cold voice asked without a trace of emotion,

“Didn’t you want to visit the Magic Bank?”

Ohhh… so that was what this was about.

Beili’s red eyes lit up slightly.

She quickly gave a little “Mm,” then carried the oil-paper bag in her hand over and obediently sat down in the seat beside Cyril.

Because Mrs. Constance had said-

The Magic Bank was under the Royal Family’s jurisdiction. Even though the Constance Family was one of the most prominent Noble families in Sainthos, they still had no way to involve themselves in the Magic Bank’s affairs.

During their call, Mrs. Constance had kept hinting to her:

For something like this, she could try asking Prince Cyril for help. His Highness would agree.

At the time, on this end of the Communication Orb, Beili’s expression had been one of pure refusal.

Let’s see how it goes. That was all she had said.

But now, it seemed Mrs. Constance had used some method to pass her wishes along to Cyril.

After sitting down, Beili secretly glanced at Cyril and asked in a small voice,

“Can Your Highness really take me to visit the Magic Bank?”

Cyril did not answer her directly. He merely tugged at the corner of his mouth and brought up something else.

“Looks like you’re better.”

“Yes, Your Highness.”

Following his lead, Beili explained, “I was a bit out of sorts before, but I’ve completely recovered now.”

As it happened, ever since she had brought Lance and Renee out of the Dream Cage, those occasional spells of zoning out had disappeared.

Cyril gave a cold snort, his face as expressionless as a block of ice.

“Good. I have no intention of taking someone who might freeze in place and stare into space at any moment to the Magic Bank.”

“…”

Beili grumbled inwardly, but aloud she thanked and praised him.

“Thank you, Your Highness. Your Highness is truly so kind. As expected of the Light and Pride of Sainthos…”

“Enough. Stop talking.”

“All right.”

Beili gently tugged at the corners of her lips and asked impatiently,

“Then when will Your Highness take me?”

Cyril said coldly, “Tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow?”

That soon?

Beili was a little surprised.

Cyril gave a faint “Mm.”

“I’m only free tomorrow, Bartholomew.”

His amethyst-like eyes did not turn toward her as he said in an emotionless voice,

“If you’re not free tomorrow, then wait until next year.”

If she missed this chance, she would have to wait… that long?

“I’m free-”

Afraid he might go back on his word, Beili answered at once,

“I’ll be downstairs at the boys’ dormitory waiting for Your Highness first thing tomorrow morning.”

“Oh, of course.” At the end, she added, “And I’ll bring Your Highness a delicious breakfast while I’m at it.”
Beili glanced at the oiled paper he had set on the table. A tiny smear of blueberry jam still clung to it.

“Blueberry pie?”

At her words, the black-haired, purple-eyed boy paused. Then he lifted his chin slightly and gave a nod.

…

Students had already begun filing into the classroom one after another.

Beili had just finished the black pudding in her hand when she noticed a female student take the seat in front of her.

The moment the girl sat down, she swept her gaze around the classroom. Then she took out an exquisite iron box, rose to her feet, and walked toward the other side of the room.

“Prince Lance…”

“I prepared this especially for you… I hope you’ll like it.”

The female student sounded a little shy as she said softly, “Tomorrow, I’m sure lots of people will give you things… so I thought I’d give mine to you early, just like in previous years…”

Beili vaguely caught a familiar form of address.

She froze for a moment.

She turned her head on instinct, only to discover that in another corner of the classroom sat a red-haired boy with black eyes.

Lance.

She had no idea when he had appeared, or how long he had been sitting there.

When Beili turned to look at him, Lance’s gaze happened to fall on her as well.

Beili couldn’t read the emotion in Lance’s eyes. She only saw that he was completely ignoring the female student standing in front of him.

“Prince Lance, how can you treat me like this… I spent so long preparing it…”

But Lance seemed not to hear her at all. He did not so much as spare her a glance.

The female student waited there for a while. Seeing that Lance still showed no reaction, she could only return in humiliation.

Oh… Clearly unable to adjust to Lance’s change, the female student started crying before she even made it back. Not long after she sat down, soft sobs of hurt and disappointment came from her seat.

In the relatively quiet classroom, the conversation and the sobbing were no small disturbance. Quite a few people turned their eyes toward Lance.

Beili could guess that Lance must be extremely uncomfortable right now.

So she quietly lifted a fingertip and cast a tiny spell. One of the Morpho Butterflies flew from her fingertip, silently beating its wings as it drifted to the boy’s ear.

‘Lance, there’s still room beside me. Come sit here.’

The seating in the magic classroom was not arranged as desks for two, but in long rows.

Beili’s seat was near the wall, though there were still two empty seats between her and it.

She watched the Morpho Butterflies fly to the boy’s ear and deliver her message.

But the boy on the other side remained silent. He did not get up, nor did he look at her again.

He simply sat there quietly, lost in thoughts she could not know.

Beili stared at Lance for a while, gradually stunned.

Why was Lance ignoring her? Had she done something wrong and upset him?

Beili wasn’t sure, but she could clearly feel that Lance didn’t seem to want to have anything to do with her right now.

She swallowed, at a loss and with no other options. In the end, she could only turn her head back around helplessly.

Before long, the Magic Mentor entered the classroom, and magic class officially began.

Only, the content of this magic lesson was a little special.

Instead of teaching ordinary magic as usual, the Magic Mentor taught the students how to add all kinds of magical effects to chocolate.

Beili sat in her seat, putting on the appearance of listening attentively, but her thoughts had already drifted to the corner on the other side of the room.

She did not hear a word of what the Magic Mentor was saying.

Maybe after class, she should invite Lance to the cafeteria for dinner?

That was what she planned. But when class ended and she stood up to turn around, she saw that the seat in the corner was already empty.
