Chapter 303

Cyril raised a hand and pointed in a certain direction, his expression somewhat complicated.

The young man quietly glanced where he was pointing, then lowered his eyes without a word, as if waiting for someone else to explain on his behalf.

Of course, Ashera was naturally following her.

“There are still some things between him and me that haven’t been settled.”

So Beili stepped forward and explained of her own accord:

“That is why he won’t be returning to the dormitory for the time being.”

Cyril’s expression grew a little stiff. He gave a slight nod, no longer pursued the matter, then turned and left with Clarence.

After they had walked some distance away, Clarence finally spoke, sighing:

“Miss Bartholomew and Prince Lance seem to have grown much closer all of a sudden.”

His tone was light, as if he were discussing the weather, but there was a trace of bitterness in his voice that even he himself did not notice.

Heartbreak.

Yes.

Miss Bartholomew’s state after the school term began must have been heartbreak.

After observing her for a while, Clarence had come to that conclusion.

And it was not just him. Prince Cyril should have been able to see it too. So should Prince Lance.

Because the second prince of Sainthos had not appeared in a long time.

Cyril, walking beside Clarence, did not pick up the topic.

He simply walked on in silence.

But Clarence could clearly feel that the aura around His Highness had turned somewhat cold.

…

After parting from the others, Beili had completely calmed down.

She knew crying was useless, and begging Ashera would do no good either.

For now, the best course was to first stabilize Ashera, who was inside Lance’s body, and then continue collecting Mana.

During this period, she could only try her best to go along with Ashera’s wishes.

When it came to the young Ashera, Beili could perhaps still afford to act a little fearless.

But if the one with Black Goat Horns on his head came out of his cage, she absolutely would not be able to remain so composed.

Ashera in his Youth Form, at the very least, would still listen to her.

As for the other form, forget listening to her-getting him to stop going berserk was already an almost impossible task.

To avoid causing any further trouble, Beili brought the young man back to her room in the girls’ dormitory building.

The dorm supervisor of the girls’ dormitory would not stop any girl from bringing a male student back to the dormitory.

After all, at Holy Island Academy, everyone was either a male Noble or a female Noble. The only distinction between students was their kingdom of origin.

The dorm supervisor had no right whatsoever to interfere in the private affairs of Nobles.

When they returned to the dormitory, Renee was still in the room.

After what had happened last night, Renee had no desire to go out at all. She had not even eaten anything the entire day.

She thought stubbornly to herself-

She hoped Brother Lance would realize what he had done wrong and come find her.

And apologize to her.

Oh, and it would be best if he asked after her with concern, then discovered that she had not eaten anything.

Finally, he would personally bring her something back from the Academy cafeteria, or accompany her there to eat.

Renee would not refuse either way of making up.

Click.

The dorm room door opened.

Hearing movement outside her room, Renee seemed to sense it instinctively. She threw off the covers, climbed out of bed, and opened the door a crack.

Sure enough.

She saw Brother Lance appear in the dormitory.

He was even carrying food.

Renee’s eyes immediately reddened.

“Brother Lance-”

She immediately opened the door all the way and called out pitifully.

Her voice was filled with delight.
But the latter merely gave her a cold glance.

His eyes were like he was looking at someone utterly irrelevant.

There was no warmth in them at all.

And he had absolutely no intention of speaking to her, much less apologizing.

The smile on Renee’s face froze in an instant. Angry and frightened, she didn’t dare question him loudly. She could only follow behind him and ask in a small voice,

“Brother Lance, why are you ignoring me?”

There was a faint sob in her voice.

The boy remained expressionless, not even sparing her another glance.

He walked straight into Bartholomew’s room and gently set the food wrapped in oiled paper on the table.

Renee followed him to the doorway of Bartholomew’s room, then stopped with her hand gripping the doorframe.

She hadn’t eaten all day. Now she saw the food, but it clearly hadn’t been prepared for her.

Renee was completely overwhelmed by grievance.

Beili stood inside the room, watching the scene with some awkwardness as she tried to think of a way to explain.

Before she could come up with anything, Renee rushed over and grabbed the boy’s sleeve, choking out,

“Brother Lance, I know I was wrong. Please don’t treat me like this anymore, okay? I’ll be good from now on…”

The moment his sleeve was caught, the boy’s brows drew together in irritation.

He flung Renee’s hand away, then looked toward the gray-haired, red-eyed girl.

“Little Butterfly, can I kill her?”

That was what he asked.

His tone was serious.

On the other side,

Renee’s face went deathly pale at the boy’s words, her eyes widening in disbelief.

Beili was startled as well and shook her head at once.

The boy noted this answer down.

Once.

Then, without looking at Renee again, he turned his gaze out the window, as if waiting for her to leave on her own.

The tears in Renee’s false golden eyes were frightened back. Her body went cold, trembling uncontrollably.

She murmured,

“Oh… Brother Lance, you’re not my Brother Lance…”

Beili’s red eyes paused for a moment. She patted Renee on the shoulder and said soothingly,

“Princess Renee, go back to your room for now. You both need to calm down…”

“Bartholomew.”

Renee turned to look at her. On that delicate, deathly pale little face, only confusion and fear remained.

She leaned close to Beili’s ear and said in a firm, quiet voice,

“He isn’t my Brother Lance…”

Beili opened her mouth, unsure how to explain this to Renee.

If Renee still remembered what had happened in the Dream Cage, then it would all make sense. But now she had forgotten.

Beili brought Renee back to the door of her room.

“Please don’t overthink it, Your Highness. Something unpleasant only happened between you two last night…”

“No, Brother Lance wouldn’t be like this…”

Renee grew anxious and grabbed her hand.

Beili sighed inwardly. After thinking for a moment, she could only change the subject.

“If this will make Your Highness feel any better, the second prince’s last confirmed location was indeed Tilisha. In fact, he was in Tilisha’s imperial city. I met him there.”

At the news, Renee’s false eyes immediately brightened.

But only briefly.

Like fireworks bursting in the night sky, the light vanished and dimmed again after a single instant.

Clearly, at this moment, the second prince was no longer as important to her as Brother Lance.

As she thought back on the change in Brother Lance, she remembered that it had begun when she seized the Golden Eye and forcibly twisted it open.

Oh… It was all her fault.

Renee covered her face. The golden false eyes shook violently in her palms, and at last, she ran out of the bedroom.
