Chapter 335

“Sister, what you’re asking isn’t something I can control…”

The lights were off in the room.

The billowing sheer curtains cast hazy patterns of light and shadow across the hems of their dresses.

When her sister asked her to try using her power of foresight, Susanna had no idea how she was supposed to make herself foresee anything.

Most of the time, the ability was beyond her control.

“I only see scattered fragments when I’m asleep…”

Her pale eyes flickered nervously. Speaking in a soft voice, Susanna anxiously clutched the folds of her skirt.

The scenes in those dreams had seemed incredibly real, and everything that happened had followed a discernible progression.

But now, Susanna was more inclined to believe they were merely dreams with coherent stories.

After all, everything in those dreams was completely different from what she was experiencing now.

Susanna deeply regretted telling Clarence about them. It all sounded like nothing more than her own wild imagination.

And now, even Sister Bartholomew knew about it.

“In your dreams?”

Beili’s gaze rested on Susanna’s trembling pupils. The moment she heard the word “dreams,” the tension left her.

If fragments of the original story only appeared in Susanna’s dreams, where Susanna had no control over them, then perhaps Beili could enter her dreams and find those memories herself.

With that thought, Beili motioned for Susanna to sit on the edge of the bed.

She raised a fingertip and whispered, “Sleep.”

One of the Morpho Butterflies fluttered out of her palm.

Thick black mist spilled from its ink-dark wings.

A luxurious black butterfly, gleaming like a black diamond, swept across Susanna’s vision. Before she could react, her consciousness plunged into sleep.

Beili opened the Dream Domain and entered Susanna’s dream.

A swirling nebula and a melting moon surrounded a pale pink door that appeared before her.

A plaque hung on the door, bearing the name Susanna Swan.

Beili opened the door. When she opened her eyes again, she found herself in Susanna’s room.

She walked over and saw Susanna dozing with her head down on the desk, one hand resting on a book.

The book immediately caught Beili’s attention. Its title was all too familiar: The Swan Fake Heiress’ Love Quest.

It was the book containing the original story.

Beili reached out and gently slid it from beneath Susanna’s hand.

After scanning the table of contents, she turned to the relevant page.

The words on the paper seemed to come alive, and dazzling white light gradually burst from the open book in her hands.

She saw vast dark creature hordes invading the three kingdoms of Sainthos, Nauze, and Tilisha under the Demon’s command.

She also saw Cyril and Susanna fleeing south as a massive dark creature pursued them.

After crossing a vast, arid desert, they reached the opposite end of the continent from the Far North-

A land filled with black rock and volcanoes.

“So that’s how it is…”

Beili murmured softly and closed the book. Then she left through Susanna’s Dream Gate.

…

Beili opened her eyes. Sitting by the bed, she calmly waited for Susanna to wake.

The sun had likely set by then.

A faint amber glow filled the room.

After sleeping for a short while, the pink-haired girl’s lashes fluttered, and she slowly opened her eyes.
Her eyes were still hazy when she first opened them, but they gradually cleared after a moment.

“Susanna, I can let you meet your birth mother, Bertie Swan,” Beili said without preamble. “In exchange, you’ll come south with me to retrieve a few things.”

Her birth mother?

Susanna froze in shock, her mouth falling slightly open as disbelief spread across her face.

It took her a long moment to find her voice. Trembling slightly, she asked, “My birth mother’s name is Bertie… Swan?”

This was the first time she had ever learned her mother’s name.

Beneath her pink hair, her pale eyes went unfocused, still reeling from the sudden revelation.

“Is my mother still alive?”

Susanna grabbed Beili’s arm with both hands.

“I don’t know.”

Beili shook her head.

Seeing Susanna’s expression stiffen instantly, she added, “I may not know that, but I can still let you see her and speak with her.”

“All right. I’ll do it!”

The moment she heard that she could meet her birth mother, Susanna agreed with barely a second thought. Her pale eyes even shone with excitement.

“When do we leave?” she asked eagerly.

“After Mother’s funeral,” Beili replied calmly.

The funeral…

For those few seconds, Susanna had almost forgotten about it entirely.

Coming back to her senses, she nodded awkwardly and changed the subject somewhat stiffly.

“Sister Bartholomew, I heard you’ve been away from Holy Island for some time…”

Only after saying it did Susanna recall what had happened.

When news of the Duchess’s sudden death reached Holy Island Academy, Susanna had been both shocked and grief-stricken. She had immediately rushed to the women’s dormitory to find Sister Bartholomew, only to learn that she had been missing from Holy Island Academy for quite some time.

Even Princess Renee, who shared a room with her, had only just realized it.

Both Renee and Susanna had somehow believed that Sister Bartholomew was still at Holy Island Academy.

It was like an opera in which one of the characters had been removed, yet everyone continued to take her presence for granted and carried on with the story.

Beili nodded but did not pursue the subject. She merely added in an even tone, “Besides, we still need to wait for one more person.”

“I wonder what I’ll have to offer to convince that person to come with us…” Bartholomew murmured.

Combining those vague words with the scenes she had witnessed in her dreams, Susanna guessed that “that person” was Prince Cyril.

“If you’re the one asking…” Susanna lowered her pale eyes slightly and offered a quiet hint. “Prince Cyril will agree whether you offer him anything in exchange or not.”

Beili’s red eyes stilled for a moment before her gaze shifted toward the pink-haired, pale-eyed girl.

If Susanna could see everything that had happened in the original story through her dreams, then she should also have seen all the terrible things Bartholomew had done to her as the vicious supporting character.

Was that why Susanna always looked at her with fear in her eyes?

“I’ll take your advice into consideration, but I’m still accustomed to offering something in return for another person’s help,” Beili said calmly.
