Teasing the Twin Psychics in the Apocalypse - Chapter 8
Chapter 8
Luo Qing’er stared at the can on the floor and let out a heartbroken cry.
“Do you know how rare canned food is? What the hell was that? Why did you suddenly stand up and throw it away? If you weren’t going to eat it, you could’ve given it to me!”
Lu Hanchen kept his head lifted, his gaze calm and unreadable, as if nothing had stirred him at all.
“I’m not eating it.”
Lu Zhou was trembling faintly with anger. Humiliation kept surging in his eyes as he turned and strode quickly toward his room, as though if he slowed down for even a few steps, his tears would fall.
“You all go gather supplies today.”
Lu Zhou shut himself in his room. When I went to tie myself to Lu Hanchen with the Safety Distance Rope as usual, he refused.
I stared at him in surprise. Lu Hanchen turned his head away, and the tips of his ears were burning red.
“Let’s not use it today. We’ll search separately. You go with Luo Qing’er.”
“I’ve already scouted the area. There aren’t any zombies within ten miles. If you run into danger, call me on the pager.”
After saying that, he hurried off.
I quietly watched his retreating figure, disappointment slowly creeping into my heart. Even the bullet comments could tell something was off.
[What does this mean? Is the other pair headed for a bad ending too?]
[Fine, they can all fizzle out. Better that way.]
[The male supporting character obviously likes her, right? This morning when the heroine said she was chasing him, he totally looked down and secretly enjoyed it. I swear I saw the corner of his mouth go up by like 0.3 pixels.]
[Maybe he thinks his little brother and the supporting female character… anyway, maybe he’s given up.]
I gathered supplies absentmindedly, and even Luo Qing’er noticed something was wrong.
“Are you okay?”
The overwhelming disappointment, on top of my skin hunger, was enough to make me break down. I threw myself into her arms and started sobbing quietly.
“Don’t cry. Here, eat this.”
After standing there in a daze for a while, Luo Qing’er pulled out a crumpled half-bitten piece of chocolate from her pocket.
“It’s name-brand. You can’t find these anywhere after the apocalypse. It was… given to me by someone else.”
At the mention of that someone, the eyes of the girl who was usually so bright dimmed a little.
I looked at the half-bitten chocolate. The hug had already made my body feel much better, and now I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
“You eat it yourself.”
The bullet comments immediately started shipping again.
[This is starting to go in a very wrong direction.]
[Whatever, doesn’t matter. I like yuri too. As long as there’s something to ship, I’m in.]
When Luo Qing’er and I got back, Lu Hanchen still hadn’t returned.
Lu Zhou’s gaze locked tightly onto me. When he realized I had come back with Luo Qing’er, he seemed a little happy.
“I found some sausage we collected a couple days ago. If you want to eat it…”
He came over to speak to me with a cold expression, but the moment he looked toward the doorway, he suddenly stopped.
I followed his gaze, and Luo Qing’er gasped in surprise.
“Where did those flowers come from?!”
In the apocalypse, everything was covered in the stench of blood. Even wild grass was hard to find, much less a bouquet of flowers this bright.
Fine beads of sweat covered Lu Hanchen’s forehead. He pressed his lips together and looked at me.
“Sorry. These were the only wildflowers I could find nearby, Qin Tang…”
His voice was hoarse as he drew in a deep breath.
“If you’re willing to be with me, then the moment the apocalypse ends, I want to give you an even more beautiful bouquet.”
“Qin Tang, would you… give me a chance?”
Since meeting Lu Hanchen, this was the first time I’d ever heard this iceberg say so much.
