Chapter 7

Lu Zhou really did cry.

Because the moment I stepped out of Lu Hanchen’s room, I ran straight into him coming in.

The bandage on his wound was a complete mess. His eyes were red, and he was limping as he walked.

I was startled. How had he started limping in the short time I hadn’t seen him?

Our eyes met. When he saw the concern still lingering in mine, his swollen red eyes lit up for a brief instant-then he angrily turned his head away and refused to look at me.

“Your leg… did a zombie bite you?”

The moment the words left my mouth, I regretted them, because the barrage had already answered for me.

[Don’t say anything else, evil supporting girl. His leg went numb from squatting by the door too long.]

[It’s all your fault. The male lead is about to cry again. How did he squat there that long and nobody came out to look for him?]

Lu Zhou’s face flushed bright red, and he shot me a glare.

“None of your business. Weren’t you healing my brother just now? Why don’t you sleep in his room too?”

Seeing that he still wouldn’t let go of the fact that I’d lied to him, I couldn’t be bothered to explain anymore. I lifted a foot and headed back to my room.

And yet I kept feeling a scorching gaze on my back.

I turned my head, only to find Lu Zhou looking down and fiddling with the bow on his bandage, not looking at me at all.

The second I stepped into my room, it sounded like someone behind me let out a long breath of relief.

I woke up fairly late the next day. The three of them were sitting in the middle of the base eating canned food.

When he saw me come over, Lu Hanchen raised a hand and passed me the can he had just opened.

A dark, icy gaze suddenly swept over from beside me. I turned and saw the ugly look on Lu Zhou’s face.

He must have lost quite a bit of blood last night; his lips were still pale, and now he was silently staring at me and Lu Hanchen.

Without his usual lively energy, he was starting to look even more like his brother. The difference was that Lu Hanchen was merely cold, while Lu Zhou’s gaze now felt downright sinister.

I took the can and sat down to the side, ignoring the piercing chill of Lu Zhou’s stare.

I had just finished one can when someone pressed a fresh sandwich into my hand. Lu Hanchen pursed his lips, the tips of his ears a little red.

“I found it while scavenging this morning.”

Luo Qing’er looked like she’d just witnessed something shippable.

“So that early-morning trip Lu Hanchen took was to find tastier supplies?”

Lu Zhou watched coldly and said nothing.

“I already wanted to ask yesterday when you two were in that room. Every single one of you was blushing like crazy. Are you together now?”

The air went still. Lu Hanchen lowered his head and opened a new can for me without saying anything.

Lu Zhou tugged at the corner of his mouth and tossed out a chilly sentence.

“How could my brother ever be with her…”

As I took the fresh grapes Lu Hanchen handed me, I couldn’t help lightly pinching his finger.

“I’m the one chasing him. Can’t you tell?”

With a clatter, Lu Zhou shot to his feet. The can resting on his lap tumbled to the ground, the metal giving a crisp clang.

The same index finger I’d just touched while pinching Lu Hanchen’s trembled slightly. His breathing turned ragged, and his eyes reddened again.

The barrage was dumbfounded.

[What’s going on? Why is he reacting this strongly?]

[After observing for the past few days, and based on my many years of experience watching dating shows, I think the ship we’ve been rooting for may have gone off the rails.]

[Why does the male lead look like some pitiful guy who just got dumped by a scumbag? Don’t tell me he really likes the evil supporting girl? Then what about the female lead? She must be heartbroken!]

The female lead was indeed heartbroken.
