The Celibate Male Lead Broke His Persona - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
I drove to the bar that very night.
Xu Sinian’s face was flushed from drinking.
Aching for him, I said, “Why did you drink so much?”
“Be good. I’ll take you home.”
He covered his face and sobbed. “What did I do wrong? Why doesn’t Huo Zhui like me?”
I patted his head.
“He’s the one with no taste. In my heart, you’re the best person in the world.
“You’re drunk. Let me take you home, okay?”
He ignored me, too busy hiccupping through his own tears.
“Liao Qing, I really, really like Huo Zhui.”
“If he could like me back, I’d do anything he asked.”
Without the slightest hesitation, he poured out his feelings for another man to someone who was in love with him.
My body went stiff, but I said nothing.
In the end, it took me a tremendous amount of effort to get him home.
Xu Sinian was so drunk he couldn’t stand, most of his weight pressing down on me.
I practically had to half-carry, half-drag him toward the door.
By the time we made it there, I was exhausted and parched.
When we reached the entrance to his apartment building, I helped him to his door.
I couldn’t help saying, “Sinian, can I come in for a glass of water?”
Xu Sinian immediately looked at me with guarded eyes.
Clearly, he’d taken my request as that kind of invitation.
After a few seconds of silence,
he pressed his lips together and said awkwardly, “Maybe you shouldn’t come in.”
I froze, then tugged the corners of my mouth into a bitter smile.
“Then get some rest.”
“Mm. Liao Qing, you should rest early too.”
The door clicked shut.
Shutting all the warmth inside.
The autumn wind swept past.
Liao Qing. Liao Qing.
Lonely and cold.
This was the life of a second male lead backup option.
Pouring his whole heart out for someone, yet not even getting a drink of water in return.
I was starting to feel a little sorry for myself.
My mood suddenly turned awful.
After Xu Sinian’s interruption tonight, I wasn’t sleepy at all anymore.
So I simply went back to the bar to drink myself numb.
After going so long with my needs unmet, I really couldn’t take it anymore.
The System was in sleep mode.
I called for it a few times, but it didn’t respond.
Perfect opportunity.
A little sneaky indulgence probably wouldn’t be discovered.
My gaze drifted through the crowd.
Until I spotted a handsome man with striking features.
Alone.
A ring on the index finger of his right hand.
Single.
Great body.
Broad shoulders, narrow hips.
Long legs, slim waist.
At one glance, he was clearly top-tier.
The moment I saw him, I wanted him to do me until my eyes lost focus.
How should I strike up a conversation with him?
I took a sip of my drink.
Should I go for the artsy approach, walk over, and tell him the night was beautiful?
But I wanted to be more direct. Walk right up and ask him if he was big down there.
That was a little too unreserved, though. Too out of character.
Maybe he sensed the heat of my stare.
The handsome man looked over at me.
I quickly averted my eyes and used the reflection in the window to examine myself.
Even now,
I was still dressed in an abstinent-style black shirt.
Every button fastened meticulously, right up to the very top.
I wondered if it would turn people off.
He was observing me too.
I was thinking about how to get laid without breaking character.
I was still a little chicken.
So I drank one glass after another.
Gradually, I realized I’d had too much.
I was a little drunk.
I wanted to stand, only to find I couldn’t keep steady. My head spun.
So this body’s alcohol tolerance wasn’t great.
The handsome man I’d set my sights on was actually pretty kindhearted. He took the initiative to come over and support me. “Need some help?”
I rubbed my brow and shook my head. “No.”
I pushed him away and tried to leave, but I couldn’t walk straight. I stumbled and fell right back into his arms.
The man instinctively wrapped an arm around me.
I noticed.
He seemed to swallow hard.
Something below his waist slowly started to change.
Just as planned.
I couldn’t help secretly laughing.
