The Chronicle of Taming a Loyal Dog - Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Me, doubting what I’d just heard: ?
I hurried to explain.
“That’s not what I meant!”
Qin Yue’s voice shot up.
“Then what else could you mean? I only changed half an hour ago, and your call came in. Aren’t you just using this as an excuse to make me report in to you?”
He took a deep breath, then rattled on like a machine gun.
“On the outside, I’m wearing the white shirt and black trousers you requested. Underneath, I’m wearing the boxers you bought me.”
“Inside my shoes, I’m wearing pink teddy-bear socks. Outside my socks, I’m wearing the sneakers endorsed by your oppa.”
“I’m playing ball outside with a few childhood friends. You know all of them. I haven’t been in contact with a single person you hate.”
“Why aren’t you talking? Are you mad? I picked up your call in under three seconds.”
The barrage of comments went silent for a moment.
Then it exploded.
[No way, bro. How did the female supporting character train him into this?]
[Forget my husband-even my bestie wouldn’t report to me in this much detail. Tagging my bestie to come learn this reporting template.]
[Is there a single piece of clothing on the male lead that he chose of his own free will?]
[The female supporting character says one sentence, and the male lead fires back ten. Just how sick of her is he?]
[Has no one noticed the male lead sounds like he’s about to blow up from anger?]
On the other end of the phone, his heavy breathing sounded like an ox.
He was probably genuinely furious.
Just three minutes ago,
I had gone downstairs to pick up a delivery. On my way back, this whole mess of floating comments had appeared before my eyes.
The comments said I was the female supporting character of this world, while Qin Yue was the male lead. In a little while, my family would go bankrupt, and the real female lead would soon take her rightful place.
Once Qin Yue broke free of my control, he would live happily ever after with his destined true love.
And me?
The dignified Eldest Miss of the Ye Family would end up on the streets gnawing on corn buns. In the end, I’d sleep rough, weather the elements, and literally die of poverty.
As if I’d believe that.
They even told me to sell the boxers I’d bought Qin Yue on Xianyu to save money.
I got so mad reading that that I coolly placed an order for a whole batch of new boxers.
If I wanted to, I could hang those boxers on Qin Yue’s head like a hat, and he wouldn’t dare have an opinion!
Then, ten minutes later,
I received a call from my dad. He said there had been a problem with a major company decision, and we were facing a break in our capital chain.
As for the marriage alliance with the Qin Family, he wanted me to ask Qin Yue whether he was still willing to go through with it.
After all, it was my family going bankrupt. Our status was nowhere near what it had been.
On top of that, Qin Yue had always thought I was too controlling and had never been very satisfied with me as his marriage partner.
If Qin Yue used this opportunity to call off the engagement, it would be understandable.
After hanging up,
I silently opened Xianyu. My pride was too strong, so I closed it again.
Another ten minutes passed.
I called Qin Yue.
I felt I could still fight for myself a little.
Death wasn’t all that scary.
I just didn’t want to die poor.
When Qin Yue didn’t hear me say anything, he took the initiative to speak again.
“Anyway, I’m not going commando. That’d chafe like crazy. If you’re not happy with it, bring me another pair of boxers yourself.”
With a click,
the call was hung up.
I slowly lowered my head and looked at the pile of fancy boxers I’d bought for Qin Yue. In despair, I closed my eyes.
I’d clearly planned it all out: white ones on Monday, pink ones on Tuesday, semi-sheer ones on Wednesday, lace ones on Thursday…
Seven days a week. My schedule was packed.
Great. Now forget seven days.
If he decided to kick me while I was down,
I’d be the one getting a seventh-day memorial.
