The Cursed Sect - Chapter 3
Chapter 6
Just as the three of us were fooling around in the dungeon, Canggu’s sinister voice sounded from the doorway. “Looks like you’re all having a wonderful time even after getting captured. Still playing around so happily, are you?”
At the sound of that voice, Nan Chi gave a low cough, grabbed me, and hauled me up from the floor. The two of us obediently stood behind Song Yuyuan.
The gentle air around Song Yuyuan vanished soundlessly like the receding tide the moment Canggu entered, leaving only a bone-chilling coldness behind.
His smile faded. Only then did he slowly turn toward the speaker.
“Demon Lord Canggu. I trust you’ve been well.”
Canggu let out a mocking laugh. “You righteous cultivators and your pretentious manners.”
Canggu narrowed his eyes, his gaze sweeping over the three of us, full of scrutiny. “I didn’t expect you to actually come alone for the sake of your two disciples.”
Song Yuyuan: “…”
He raised a hand and brushed nonexistent dust from his robes before sighing. “At first, I thought it wouldn’t matter if I took a little risk for them. But now I regret it.”
I understood exactly what Song Yuyuan was implying. He now felt it would be perfectly fine if Nan Chi and I, his two unfilial disciples, died here among the Demon Clan.
My face fell at once, and I pitifully clutched the corner of Song Yuyuan’s sleeve. “Master, you’re so cruel.”
Speechless, Song Yuyuan yanked his sleeve right out of my hand, radiating a clear air of Do Not Touch Me.
Canggu watched our antics coldly, then abruptly spoke in an icy voice. “Song Yuyuan, don’t tell me you don’t know why I lured you to the Demon Clan.”
Chapter 7
Song Yuyuan’s hand paused as he straightened his cuff. After a long moment, he looked up in confusion. “Isn’t it because you want to slap me in the face?”
Song Yuyuan was the number one cultivator in the cultivation world. The Demon Clan was ambitious, but because they feared Song Yuyuan, they had never dared to act.
Canggu was the newly appointed Demon Lord of the Demon Clan.
This time, he had captured Nan Chi and me in order to intimidate Song Yuyuan.
If possible, he also intended to scheme against Song Yuyuan and severely injure him.
He wanted everyone in both the Demon Clan and the cultivation world to see that Song Yuyuan was not an invincible legend.
If this battle succeeded, Canggu would establish his authority among the Demon Clan and secure his position there.
Canggu said, “That is only one reason.”
Hearing this, Nan Chi and I both pricked up our ears with great interest, eager to hear what else Canggu had to say.
Unexpectedly, in the very next second, the situation changed.
One of the Demon Clan subordinates beside Canggu suddenly attacked, thrusting a sword straight at Song Yuyuan. “Die!”
Nan Chi and I immediately took a step back in perfect tacit understanding, intending to leave the battlefield for Master to handle alone.
Unfortunately, both Nan Chi and I still had ribbons tied over our eyes and hadn’t adjusted yet, so we stepped on each other’s robe hems.
In my panic, I flailed both hands wildly through the air and ended up grabbing Song Yuyuan’s belt, forcing him to take a step closer to me.
And Nan Chi, with truly impeccable timing, yanked off the ribbon covering Song Yuyuan’s eyes.
Song Yuyuan wrapped an arm around my waist. His clear, cool eyes were revealed, staring straight into mine.
In that instant, Song Yuyuan’s attitude changed completely.
His voice was so gentle it was practically dripping water. “Hua Ning, be careful.”
Me: “…”
Oh boy. We’re done for.
Master, just scold me. When you speak so gently, I’m scared.
