Chapter 1

I had a pregnancy pulse.

It was from that day.

Seeing the pained look on my face, my junior brother raised a brow and asked, “All you did was look for medicine for me. Did you actually get hurt?”

That day, my junior brother had been gravely injured, so I risked going into the Poison Herb Forest to find an antidote.

Because I was an ignorant good-for-nothing, the only method I knew was to imitate Shennong and taste every herb myself.

The moment the first leaf went down, heat pooled in my lower abdomen.

Damn it. It was Spring Night Moment Grass!

The books said that within three steps, there would surely be an antidote.

I looked around-and actually found a young man lying in the grass.

His features were like carved jade, his clothes black and his skin pale.

My mind was a haze, and I moved on instinct, reaching to tug at his sash.

But I had manners.

Before detoxifying myself, I politely asked, “My lord, may I ask if you can help me cure this poison?”

The young man said nothing, his eyes shut tight. It seemed like tacit consent.

Halfway through, he opened his eyes. His lashes were like raven feathers, and the light of the sky reflected in his gaze, making him exceptionally beautiful.

But it was broad daylight, and I was mortified.

I hurriedly used his sash to cover my benefactor’s eyes.

“Stop.”

His voice came out fractured. He seemed to grind his teeth, and the strength at his waist increased by a few degrees.

With a sob in my voice, I begged him.

“Weren’t you going to help me? You’re ending it already?”

After that, I didn’t even know how I left.

My legs trembling, I held my waist and brought the antidote back to the room to cure my junior brother.

When Fu Jiao woke, he stared at the red marks on my neck.

His face went white, and he turned his head away. “Nong Xiaoyuan, what did you just do to me?”

I stammered.

“I only went up the mountain to find you an antidote and got bitten by some mosquitoes… Other than that, I didn’t see anyone at all.”

But he was both angry and embarrassed, and told me to get lost at once.

Chapter 2

Several days had passed.

Everything was calm and uneventful.

I let out a breath of relief. It seemed that benefactor wasn’t going to come looking for me.

Sure enough, there were still more good people in the world than bad!

Before I left, I had even nourished him a little, so that counted as repaying the favor.

When I saw my junior brother again, he was perfectly healthy, though he didn’t dare look me straight in the eye.

It seemed he still felt grateful that I had saved him that day.

Then our master, wearing a grave expression, told us to watch our words and actions for the next while and keep our tails tucked between our legs.

“Recently, an important client from the Sword Sect will be coming to handle some business. Speak less and work more.”

He was vague about it, so I turned and asked my junior brother.

“What’s that person coming here to do?”

Fu Jiao sneered. “To hunt down a culprit.”

The Sword Sect had produced an unrivaled genius. His surname was Yue, his given name Sha.

Yue Sha was cold and peerless, aloof and unfeeling, and born with baleful energy filling his body.

The only way he could suppress that malignant aura was to maintain his virgin body.

Half the business of our Medicine Cultivation Sect came right to our doorstep because of him.

The injured came in light cases with broken arms and legs, and in severe cases as three ounces of ashes.

This Baleful Star had single-handedly raised the employment rate of medicine cultivators like us.

This time, our major patron was coming for an inspection, and I was a little happy.

Maybe we could sell some medicine!

Then, when I confessed to my junior brother and proposed marriage in the future, I would have enough dignity to hold a proper wedding.

As I thought about it, I laughed out loud, but Fu Jiao pinched my arm.

“Hey. I advise you not to get too close to him. This time, he’s here to arrest someone.

“The day I was poisoned, didn’t you go to the medicine fields to pick herbs? Good thing you weren’t in the Poison Forest. That Baleful Star was unlucky enough to stray into the back mountain’s Poison Forest. After he passed out, some lunatic took his virginity.

“When he woke up, he tore through the entire forest and shaved off half a mountain peak.”

The Poison Forest-huh?!

That day, I had originally been heading to the medicine fields, but my junior brother’s condition had been critical.

So I had turned and ventured into the Poison Forest to pick herbs instead.

My neck went stiff.

The pain of my benefactor’s hands gripping my waist was still vivid in my memory.

He had almost crushed me.

Suddenly, a wave of nausea churned in my stomach. On instinct, I took my own pulse to diagnose myself.

My body was healthy. Very sturdy.

But how was I pregnant?

Fu Jiao frowned and grabbed my wrist. “What, did you really get hurt picking herbs that day?

“Useless as ever. I’ll take a look for you.”

Panic rising, I tried to pull my arm back.
