Confused, I pushed myself up and pulled the thing out from between my teeth.

It was a tail, damp with my drool.

Beneath me was the furry belly of a beast.

Silver-gray fur lay close against the abdomen, visibly flattened where someone had slept on it.

I looked up and found myself staring directly at a huge, raised wolf’s head.

A moist nose hovered in front of me.

Wei Min sniffed me, then finally moved his head away.

“I didn’t do anything.”

“You crawled under my belly to sleep last night and wouldn’t let go of my tail once you bit it.”

I froze, then frantically ran both hands over my body to check myself.

Only after confirming that my clothes were intact and nothing felt strange did I breathe a sigh of relief.

The warning I had been about to give stuck in my throat.

When I remembered that I had been the one to wriggle into Wei Min’s embrace, my whole face turned crimson, and I couldn’t utter a word.

Wei Min glanced at me without speaking.

He flicked his tail and quietly used it to cover his front.

Progress on the reconciliation mission was slow. Wei Min deliberately tried to get on my good side, but I refused to accept his overtures.

Whenever I thought of the things he had written on the whiteboard, discomfort crawled over my entire body. I didn’t even want to look at him.

But we couldn’t drag this out forever.

I trusted Captain to protect himself, but that wasn’t an excuse for me to keep stalling indefinitely.

Still, when I remembered how viciously I had cursed Wei Min for the past two days and how strongly I had rejected every peace offering…

No matter how I looked at it, I couldn’t bring myself to lose face. I remained in the corner, hesitating endlessly.

Just then, Wei Min happened to emerge from the bathroom.

For some reason, he had remained in his original form for the past two days.

The enormous wolf, taller than I was, had taken excellent care of himself. His silver-gray coat was sleek and glossy, his body well proportioned, his limbs powerful.

By human standards, both Wei Min’s looks and build made him an exceptionally handsome and imposing wolf.

Thinking of Wei Min’s human face made me feel a little aggrieved all over again.

How could anyone be handsome as both a man and a wolf?

Still, this form wasn’t bad either.

I didn’t dislike this fluffy, giant-dog appearance.

Wei Min’s tail drooped as he sat several meters away from me.

He lowered himself to the floor until his eyes were level with mine.

“What do you want me to do before you’ll agree to reconcile?”

The moment I realized Wei Min was offering me a graceful way out, I perked up.

Looking at that head covered in sleek fur, I pretended to be reluctant. “Fine.”

“Let me pet you, and I’ll reconcile with you.”

The wolf’s tail resting on the floor swept through a tiny arc.

Wei Min asked, “Where?”

“Your head?”

The system was here, after all. Wei Min couldn’t hurt me.

“What? You don’t want to?”

Wei Min tilted his head without answering.

He slowly shuffled several steps toward me, lowered his upper body, and lay flat on the floor, resting his head between his front paws.

Seeing the head offered to me, I reached out as I had wished.

The fur beneath my hand was smooth. One wolf ear twitched before my eyes.

I couldn’t resist cautiously pinching it.

The ear quivered violently. Wei Min blinked but did not resist, allowing me to rub his wolfish head.

His tail swished in small movements, and his claws scratched restlessly against the floor several times.

I rubbed Wei Min’s ears, used my fingertips to stroke the tip of his pitch-black nose, and finally gave the thick fur around his neck several scratches.

“All right.” Thoroughly satisfied, I withdrew my hand. “I suppose I’ll forgive you.”

As I watched Wei Min rise, something belatedly occurred to me…

I glared at him. “If you ever dare have those filthy thoughts about me again, you’re dead.”

Wei Min selectively ignored my words.

“It’s your turn now, isn’t it?”

Reconciliation went both ways. Wei Min stating his position wasn’t enough.

I took a deep breath, my voice lower than before.

“I thought it over carefully. There really are a lot of suspicious points we overlooked.”

“I shouldn’t have attacked you before investigating everything.”

“I’m sorry.”

Wei Min narrowed his eyes, unmistakable smugness written across his wolfish face.

His tongue swept over the corner of his mouth as he drawled, “Not enough.”

My face immediately fell.

“Then what do you want me to do?” I clenched my fist. “Don’t push your luck.”

“Let me bite you once, and I’ll reconcile.”

I stared at those wicked fangs.

Given the sharpness of Wei Min’s fangs and the strength of his jaws, I imagined I would be like one of those little snacks with a crisp shell and a soft center in his mouth—one bite and the filling would burst out.

I sprang up from the floor.

“Is there something wrong with your brain? If you bite me, will I even survive?”

“Why don’t you just tell me to die?”

“I’m telling you, don’t even think about it! And did you forget this room prohibits violence? Bite me and you’ll be electrocuted into ash in seconds!”

“I wasn’t going to bite you to death. I’ll be gentle.” Wei Min licked his teeth, assuming an extraordinarily innocent and harmless expression.

It was so innocent that I could almost see a hint of husky in him.

“Just once.”

After hesitating for a while, I agreed.

The system was here, after all. Even if Wei Min bit me to death, at least he would go down with me.

“Tch…” I sat back down. “Hurry up.”

Seeing his plan succeed, Wei Min instantly dropped that somewhat foolish expression.

He concealed the restless desire in his eyes and approached at a measured pace.

An enormous wolf paw stopped in front of me.

I closed my eyes and clenched my fists, already prepared to be savaged.

Warm, damp breath washed over my face, but the expected pain never came.

My vision merely went dark as sharp fangs gently grazed the crown of my head and the underside of my jaw.
