The Horror Boss Secretly Drinks My Bathwater - Chapter 3

After ramming into the wall for half an hour, I finally wore myself out.

I stared at the ceiling for ages before resigning myself to my fate. Returning to the whiteboard, I wrote my last two entries.

The huge words 【MISSION COMPLETE】 appeared, and I exhaled in relief.

But before I had time to celebrate, another line materialized before the two of us.

【Hidden Mission Two: Please reconcile with/forgive each other~】

Reconcile?

What was there to reconcile between me and a man-eating, murderous monster like Wei Min?

And he had even developed such filthy thoughts about me!

Just remembering those lines Wei Min had written made me tremble all over with fury.

Since I couldn’t hit him, all I could do was point at his head and curse.

“Fuck you…”

“You bastard, I’ll fucking…”

“Just wait till we get out. I’ll…”

I hurled abuse at Wei Min, using every insult I knew.

Wei Min, however, was remarkably docile. He didn’t talk back once.

His gray-blue eyes remained fixed on me, gleaming with a strange light.

Toward the end, he even took the initiative to hand me a bottle of mineral water.

The sight of it choked off my words.

I had said too much too quickly, and my throat was painfully dry. I swallowed, accepted the bottle, and gave Wei Min an odd look, but didn’t continue.

At the time, I thought my tirade had left him stupid with fear.

It wasn’t until much later, when Wei Min pinned me against a mirror, that I realized the look in his eyes had been excitement and a scorching desire to conquer me.

I turned away, unwilling to look at him again.

After some unknown length of time, Wei Min walked up behind me.

“I know you’re angry, but getting out is what matters most right now, isn’t it?”

I shot him a vicious glare.

But when my gaze landed on the smooth contours of his muscles, it still paused involuntarily.

My mind automatically connected Wei Min’s physique with the things he had written.

Hot, suggestive images promptly filled my head.

The tips of my ears reddened, and I clenched my back teeth hard.

I put some distance between Wei Min and myself. Finally calming down, I managed to speak to him with something resembling composure.

Wei Min spoke first.

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have toyed with you two like that.”

“But there has been a misunderstanding between us.”

I sneered as though I had heard the greatest joke in the world.

“Are you saying you had nothing to do with those dead villagers? Who are you kidding?”

The mission took place in a village hidden among the mountains.

It wasn’t wealthy, but everyone lived a fairly easy, carefree life.

Starting two years ago, villagers had vanished every month. A few days after each disappearance, their bodies would be found at the village entrance with their organs scooped out.

Their bodies were covered in the claw marks of a beast ripping open its prey and the tooth marks left by feeding.

And for a hundred miles in every direction, Wei Min was the only carnivorous beast around.

Captain and I had worried about accusing the wrong culprit, so we had specifically spent points to redeem information about the boss.

Once Wei Min’s information appeared on the panel, we could more or less confirm that the wolf pack was responsible for the entire affair.

“I don’t believe you.”

“You have to believe me now, whether you want to or not.”

Wei Min’s voice was low and cold, his features bearing the untamed arrogance and wildness unique to a beast.

“My pack didn’t originally have only five wolves. There were six.”

“One of them suddenly vanished, and we still haven’t found its body.”

“We’ve searched for traces of it every day since it disappeared.”

Wei Min paused. “I suspect something is wrong with that village.”

I snorted. “You’re pretty good at making up stories, huh?”

Wei Min didn’t argue. “Humans might not be able to smell it, but wolves can.”

“The village’s scent changed a long time ago.”

His nose wrinkled. “It smells terrible… like rotting meat.”

“I don’t believe you.” I scratched my head irritably. “If you didn’t do it, why did you run when we came after you?”

“You had the barrel of a gun pressed to my head. What was I supposed to do, stand there?”

Silence fell around us. Neither Wei Min nor I spoke again, each curling up in a corner of the room to rest.

I didn’t believe Wei Min, but his words did remind me of some strange things that had happened in the village.

If what he said was true, then this mission was far more dangerous than Captain and I had imagined.

The floor was freezing, and the system hadn’t even given us a blanket.

I cursed a couple of times, pillowed my head on my arm, and fell asleep.

The longer I slept, the colder and more uncomfortable I became.

I wriggled around on the floor, trying to find somewhere a little softer to sleep.

After squirming across the floor like a silkworm pupa for ages, I finally touched something furry.

Its outer coat was somewhat coarse, but the fur beneath felt soft and carried its own warmth.

A rug?

Half asleep, I pressed against it and buried half my body in the fur.

The rug stiffened, then quickly relaxed again.

Something supported my body from behind and lifted it slightly.

I grabbed the narrow, pointed tuft of fur and fell asleep clutching it in my hand.
