The Mountains - Chapter 3
Chapter 3
So hot.
The moment I barged into the room next to Lin Qiao’s, sweat broke out all over me.
Lin Qiao’s room had been freezing, but the temperature in this area was on the high side.
The environment had a certain effect on suppressing rampaging mental power.
The high heat was clearly meant to suppress this sentinel’s mental power.
He was probably ice-type.
Inside the massive cage before me, a young man sat with his eyes tightly shut, his hands and feet likewise restrained. Coiled in front of him was Little Snake, black from head to tail.
His features were cold and severe, handsome in a sharp-edged way that made him look utterly unapproachable. His spiritual body, however, was a different story.
Little Snake flicked its tongue anxiously, hissing softly. Its eyes were round, its head was round, and it looked a little adorably dumb.
So cute.
As someone with zero resistance to tiny reptiles like this, I was just starting to feel my heart stir when Little Vet popped out on her own, too impatient to wait.
She charged over carrying a giant syringe.
I didn’t even have time to stop her. “Hey!”
A moment later, she came back, proudly sending me a message: [All cured! Little Snake is so nice to pet! Cute!]
Such a cute Little Snake, and you just stabbed it with a needle? Aren’t you afraid something might happen to it?
I grumbled inwardly and was just about to say something when I realized the young man had already woken up.
A pair of eyes, black as stars, were quietly watching me.
“…Who are you?”
His voice was low and hoarse. Unlike Lin Qiao, whose degree of alienation was too high, he seemed to have retained some of his sanity. “A new guide?”
I instinctively touched my face. When I found my mask was still there, I immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
Keeping my expression unchanged, I nodded and walked forward, placing my fingertips against his forehead.
He did not resist.
Our mental powers blended perfectly, just like when I had soothed Lin Qiao earlier. There was no barrier at all.
A compatibility rate close to one hundred percent.
I knew it was because of my unique spiritual body.
As a veterinarian, all small animals were naturally drawn to me.
A flush rose across my face, and my breathing grew a little hurried.
The sentinel before me was the same.
Sweat dripped down from the hair at his forehead. He turned his head to the side, a crimson flush spreading over his handsome cheeks, while his deep black eyes slowly sank into haze.
Little Snake suddenly flicked its tongue and licked Little Vet’s hand.
Ticklish, warm, wet, and smooth.
I looked at him and found that he was staring fixedly at my fingertips.
A spiritual body followed its master.
If not for the fact that it had a mouth, would he have wanted to lick them himself…
Before that terrifying thought could fully surface, I came back to my senses and quickly pulled my hand away.
After a few seconds of silence, I ignored his question of “What’s your name?” grabbed Little Vet, turned around, and ran.
I was a proper doctor. What the hell was I doing?!
