Chapter 10

We held our breath as we followed the Demon Cultivator.

We watched as he activated an array.

He placed a bone in the center of the formation.

With a look of pious devotion, he knelt and prostrated himself on the ground. “Lord Demon Lord, once the Third Demon General brings the spine, you will be resurrected and lead our Demon Clan to rule the world!”

It seemed more than one Demon Cultivator had snuck into the Taixu Illusion Realm.

As I stared at the bone in the array, it looked vaguely familiar.

I reached into my Storage Pouch and started rummaging through it.

When the Saintess saw the familiar items inside, her expression shifted instantly. “Those are all mine!”

I pulled the Storage Pouch close to my chest. “Once it’s in my hands, it’s mine.”

Senior Brother’s expression remained indifferent. “Noisy. You’re about to wake the Demon Lord with all your shouting.”

I turned my back to them and continued digging through the Storage Pouch.

The Saintess was both furious and anxious. “How can you still be like this at a time like this? What is wrong with you Sword Cultivators? Are you just going to stand by and watch the Demon Lord be resurrected?”

Senior Brother’s face was as steady as a mountain. “And what would you have us do?”

The Saintess gripped her whip. “Kill that Demon Cultivator and destroy their array.”

I stopped her. “Wait.”

The Saintess was incredibly irritable. “Wait for what? Don’t tell me you’re planning to steal the Demon Lord’s bones too?”

Me: “…”

I’m not exactly that classless, am I?

What would I even do with a pile of old bones?

However, the Danmaku didn’t agree:

[If you turn a Demon Bone into a dharma treasure, your cultivation will skyrocket.]

[Grind the leg bone down to make a sword, and use the spine to make a whip.]

Every time I feel like I’m lacking in morals, I just look at the Danmaku.

It makes me realize I actually have quite a conscience.

Senior Brother couldn’t stop the Saintess.

Well, it’s not like he really tried to stop her anyway.

The Saintess brandished her whip and, without a word, lunged forward to give the Demon Cultivator a thrashing.

The Demon Cultivator reacted with lightning speed, knocking the Saintess to the ground in just a few moves.

The Saintess screamed toward Senior Brother, “What are you waiting for!”

Senior Brother walked over expressionlessly, drawing his sword and thrusting it toward the Demon Cultivator.

He didn’t forget to toss the Saintess aside while he was at it.

The biggest difference between righteous cultivators and Demon Cultivators is their speed of cultivation.

Demon Cultivators absorb demonic energy to cultivate.

Demonic energy is mottled, a chaotic mix of resentment and desire.

This also affects the temperament of Demon Cultivators.

It makes them exceptionally bloodthirsty and manic.

Even though Senior Brother was an elite of the Immortal Sect, he and the demon were locked in a stalemate, neither gaining the upper hand.

Senior Brother was a difficult opponent, so seeing that he couldn’t win easily, the Demon Cultivator slapped a talisman onto himself.

In an instant, demonic energy erupted.

Even the usually calm Senior Brother couldn’t help but frown.

It looked like he was about to lose his advantage.

The Saintess, despite her injuries, gritted her teeth and joined the fray with her whip.

But how could the two of them be a match for a Demon Cultivator whose demonic energy had surged so violently?

The Saintess turned her gaze toward me. “What on earth are you looking for!”

I was sweating profusely from the search.

I had looted too many good things, and my Storage Pouch was a cheap model with limited space.

Everything had been stuffed inside haphazardly.

Finally, from the pile of treasures, I pulled out a rod.
