The S-Class Alpha's Beta Sugar Daddy - Chapter 2
Zhao Duo said that since the new students hadn’t started school yet, now was the perfect time to change the major I’d applied for. It would save us the hassle of changing it after enrollment.
So he took me to the academy.
He said he had no interest in listening to several departments squabble back and forth, so he brought me straight to the president.
The president glanced at Zhao Duo, then asked me, “Are you sure you want to make this change of your own free will? No one is threatening you?”
Zhao Duo clicked his tongue.
I nodded. “Yes. This is what I want.”
“Would you mind explaining why?”
“Because I like it. I’ve loved mecha engineering ever since I was little, but when it came time to apply, I chose pharmacology for other reasons. I’ve thought everything through now. I want to contribute to my country. I want to study hard, manufacture high-quality mecha, and put them into service with the armed forces.”
At the end, I elevated the whole speech with a lofty declaration. “My goal is to give every soldier a mecha of their own.”
Mecha manufacturing was extremely complicated and came with exacting performance requirements. Even within the Military Department, only S-class Alphas and some A-class Alphas possessed mecha. Everyone else couldn’t buy one even if they had the money.
The president shot to his feet.
He seized my hand and shook it hard. “You must remember what you said today. The future of our country rests on young people like you.”
My blood surged with excitement. I gripped his hand just as firmly. “Don’t worry, President. Leave it to us!”
Changing majors went smoothly.
Classes began in a week. When they did, I could report directly to the Mecha Engineering Department.
Zhao Duo said his house was right beside the academy and told me to move my luggage straight into his place so we could live together.
I raised an arm protectively across my chest. “We haven’t even registered our marriage yet.”
The corner of Zhao Duo’s mouth curved up. “What exactly are you imagining? The three conditions I gave you have to be met in order. Even if you’re dying to marry me, you’ll have to wait until you join the Military Department. You think you can have me already? Dream on.”
I kicked him in the leg. “Get lost! Who wants to marry you?”
That was Zhao Duo for you. Infuriating.
The first time I met him was during a visit to his family home, on the day he was brought back.
He was a child of the Zhao family, yet he’d spent ten years wandering outside it.
When he was two, his nanny had lost him through her own negligence. The family didn’t find him again until he was twelve.
I had only just turned six at the time, but I wasn’t much shorter than him.
I rubbed a handkerchief over his dirty face and comforted him. “You’re home now. Everything will be all right.”
He raised his head and looked at me, so pitiful it hurt.
Who could have imagined that twelve years later, he would have grown as tall as a towering tree?
Now I barely reached his shoulder. It wasn’t fair.
And then there was that face of his, so handsome it was practically a crime against humanity.
Only at moments like this did I envy Alphas and Omegas. They really were exceptionally good-looking.
Unlike me. I was already an adult, yet I still looked like a minor.
My face was round with baby fat, and no amount of exercise could give my small, utterly sexless body a single curve worth desiring.
It was maddening.
Zhao Duo noticed me staring into space and pinched my cheek. “What are you doing?”
I slapped his hand away. “Nothing. Come home with me and help me get my luggage.”
“All right.”
I brought Zhao Duo home with me.
When I stepped out of the aircraft, I missed my footing. Zhao Duo stretched out a long arm and swept me straight into his embrace.
“Daydreaming again. Watch where you’re going.”
I glanced down at the arm wrapped around my waist and swallowed.
His sleeve was rolled up to his elbow, so when the arm holding me tensed, blue veins stood out starkly beneath his skin.
When I continued to stare, he tightened his arm and drew me closer. Then he smiled and spoke beside my ear. “What’s wrong?”
Warm breath brushed my ear. My whole body went numb, and every hair stood on end.
“Let go of me first.” I struggled, but couldn’t break free.
“Oh.”
He released me as he spoke, but he didn’t do it in the least bit properly. He withdrew his hand at an excruciatingly leisurely pace, trailing it along my waist.
My shirt had already been a little short, and that stumble had exposed my waist. As he pulled his arm away, it slid directly over my bare skin.
I turned and glared at him.
He looked back at me with perfect innocence.
I had a feeling Zhao Duo wasn’t nearly as respectable as he appeared!
