The Villain Demon Lord and His Little Fox - Chapter 1
Chapter 1
I had been watching the man at the bottom of the cliff for five whole days.
The man neither ate nor drank, yet he didn’t seem to have lost any weight. In fact, he looked perfectly spirited. When he had nothing to do, he wandered around the cliff bottom at random, though he spent most of his time meditating.
It wasn’t that I wanted to pay attention to him. My eyesight was simply too good.
Also, he was dressed entirely in red, which made him especially eye-catching.
I happened to have red fur myself. Seeing him trapped at the bottom of the cliff, cut off from the light of day, I suddenly felt a sorrowful sense of fellow-feeling.
Unfortunately, as a spirit beast, my innate talent was abysmal. I didn’t have the strength to save him.
So I turned and ran off to pick fruit.
The forest was full of wild fruit, enough to barely fill the stomach.
I carried over a whole bunch of bright red fruits, flicked my snout, and easily tossed them down to the cliff bottom-
Where they landed squarely on the man’s head.
The man looked up at me.
He had a pair of beautiful eyes. They reminded me of the sappy poems scholars wrote when trying to flatter courtesans-A beauty walks the mortal world; at dusk, no lamps need be lit.
So pretty.
The man looked at me, then at the wild fruit.
The corner of his mouth curled in disdain, and he flung the fruit far away.
Mm.
He was an idiot.
Unwilling to give up, I picked another pile of wild fruit and threw them down.
Every single time, they hit the man right on the head.
Whether he was meditating or strolling around.
I got so anxious that I hopped back and forth at the edge of the cliff, opened my snout, and cried out. But a fox’s cries are particularly easy to misunderstand. When we call, it sounds like we’re cackling.
The man’s expression finally changed. Just as he raised his sleeve, an angry shout suddenly rang out. “Xu Wuwang!”
Oh, so his name was Xu Wuwang.
Before I could even lament that at least he had a name while I didn’t have one at all, a group of white-robed cultivators appeared at the cliff’s edge.
I was quite afraid of these cultivators.
They went around upholding justice everywhere, overflowing with compassion. Once, they captured me and tried to feed me to an ancient demonic beast on the verge of death. Fortunately, I ran fast enough, though the demonic beast still bit a tuft of fur off my hind leg.
Before the cultivators could drift gracefully to the ground, I hurriedly burrowed into the grass to hide.
I was far too weak. The cultivators did not even spare me a glance.
Their target was Xu Wuwang at the bottom of the cliff.
The leader broke into a smile. “To think that the mighty Demon Lord would end up like this one day.”
After letting out a scoff, Xu Wuwang said nothing more. Clearly, he had no intention of paying him any attention.
Perhaps the pale-faced cultivator in the lead felt that his dignity had been damaged, because his tone grew stern. “The Demon-Slaying Array is a secret technique passed down in our Zhaoyun Sect since ancient times. You won’t break it so easily.”
The moment he finished speaking, there was a thunderous boom.
The array broke.
Amid the chaos, the cultivators of the Zhaoyun Sect began exchanging blows with Xu Wuwang.
They called it an exchange of blows, but from where I was watching, it was nothing more than the cultivators getting beaten one-sidedly.
They were beaten terribly, especially the pale-faced cultivator. Half of his robes were torn away, leaving him in an utterly sorry state.
In the panic, someone summoned a spirit boat.
The cultivators scrambled aboard the spirit boat to flee for their lives. The pale-faced cultivator found his confidence again and refused to learn his lesson. “The Ten-Thousand-Li Boat is a spirit boat forged by our Zhaoyun Sect with the strength of the entire sect. You won’t catch up so easily.”
The moment he finished speaking, there came a sharp whoosh.
Xu Wuwang caught up.
He flipped the Ten-Thousand-Li Boat over, and the cultivators fell in every direction.
The pale-faced cultivator gnashed his teeth and still wanted to speak, but his companion immediately covered that pleasant little mouth of his and glared at him, furiously telling him to shut up at once!
The cultivators surrendered. One of the bolder ones angrily condemned the Demon Lord for being less than human and bringing disaster to the mortal realm.
He even deliberately listed a few examples. For instance, the Demon Lord ate meals without paying, stole a Foundation Establishment cultivator’s secret treasure, and even flirted with the Zhaoyun Sect’s most beautiful female disciple, among other things.
Xu Wuwang’s expression looked rather foul.
Even I, a not particularly clever spirit beast, could figure out that Xu Wuwang was taking the blame for someone else.
And the crimes pinned on him were all rather disgraceful.
Xu Wuwang sealed all the cultivators’ mouths and carried them to the edge of the cliff.
“Down you go!”
I had to say, this Demon Lord’s voice was strangely pleasant to listen to.
One by one, the cultivators were kicked off the cliff by Xu Wuwang like dumplings being dropped into a pot.
I was watching the cultivators struggle with great interest when a hand quietly approached, caught me off guard, and grabbed me by the scruff of my neck!
“And you…”
