Chapter 2

Xu Wuwang’s handsome face loomed larger before my eyes.

Oh no, I thought. This was bad. But with my vital spot in his hand, the moment I tried to struggle, my whole body went limp and weak.

I thought I was about to be thrown off the cliff too. To my surprise, Xu Wuwang merely patched up the damaged Ten-Thousand-Li Boat, tossed me onto it, and whoosh-we took off.

Unfortunately, I got airsick and threw up all over Xu Wuwang.

Mother, I’ve really made something of myself.

“…You’re this weak?”

Xu Wuwang’s lazy eyelids lifted just enough to form a faint curve. He looked me over in disbelief, then rubbed my belly. A surge of spiritual energy flowed into me, and I immediately felt much better. Meeting his ugly expression, I swallowed back the filth that was about to come out of my mouth.

Xu Wuwang’s expression turned even uglier.

He set me on his lap. I curled up there, wrapping myself in my fluffy tail.

I knew very well that my big tail felt wonderful to the touch. Xu Wuwang seemed especially fond of it too, stroking it again and again.

I lay across his knees. After throwing up, I’d exhausted what little strength I had, and gradually grew sleepy.

Just as I was drifting off, Xu Wuwang suddenly grabbed my tail and used it to wipe the vomit-stained spot on his chest.

I panicked.

I treasured my beautiful big tail more than anything. Fuming, I tried to yank it back.

It didn’t budge.

In the blink of an eye, the spirit boat arrived in the Demon Realm.

We entered the Demon Palace.

Countless oddly shaped demon soldiers and generals came forward in fear and trembling to greet him.

When they saw their Demon Lord holding a red-furred spirit fox upside down by the tail, all their expressions turned rather curious.

What are you staring at? I thought.

Never seen a fox walk upside down before?

Xu Wuwang was being utterly inhuman. Since he was holding me by the tail, I could only put my forepaws on the ground and scurry along as fast as I could, barely managing to keep up with his pace.

After entering his bedchamber, Xu Wuwang gave the servants some instructions. I didn’t catch what he said.

Because I had been thoroughly stunned by the sheer extravagance of the Demon Palace.

In the rumors, the Demon Palace was supposed to be pitch-black and shrouded in poisonous mist. Instead, everywhere I looked was glittering gold. The walls were inlaid with spiritual stones of every color. Every few steps, there was another spiritual treasure, and with every breath I took, I inhaled rich, dense spiritual energy!

My fox eyes widened as I looked all around in curiosity.

Before long, Xu Wuwang came out from behind a folding screen. He had changed clothes.

As far as I was concerned, there was no difference. After all, they were both red.

Soon, servants filed in one after another, bringing countless spiritual delicacies, spiritual plants, and a dazzling array of pills.

My eyes nearly crossed from looking at it all. Drool dripped and dripped from my muzzle.

It was rather embarrassing to admit.

I was a spirit beast with truly awful talent.

Not long after I was born, I was abandoned. I barely even got to drink a few mouthfuls of my mother’s milk.

Fortunately, my will to live was stubborn enough, and I’d managed to scrape by in the treacherous cultivation world until now.

Of course, the process had been difficult. Every day, I ran around trying to fill my stomach. What I ate most often were red wild fruits, yellow wild fruits, and green wild fruits.

Even when I disguised myself as an ordinary fox to steal chickens, the household dogs still chased me for three whole streets.

From birth until now, I had never eaten anything truly good.

So it was only reasonable that I drooled a little more than usual.

Xu Wuwang propped his head on one hand and enjoyed the sight of me being driven mad with greed. His slender fingers reached toward a tray and picked up a spiritual fruit.

Watching the spiritual fruit come closer and closer, I sniffed with all my might.

What a sweet, crisp scent.

I was already imagining it: the spiritual fruit melting between my lips and teeth, its fragrant sweetness flooding my taste buds…

Thump.

Xu Wuwang actually tossed the spiritual fruit high into the air.

A moment later, it landed on top of my head.

I blinked my fox eyes, a little baffled.

I had no idea what Xu Wuwang was trying to do.

Xu Wuwang’s lips curved in a smile, as though my dumbfounded look had amused him.

He casually picked up another spiritual fruit from the tray, weighed it in his hand, and threw it with perfect accuracy onto my head.

Another crisp thump.

After he hit me three times in a row, I finally understood.

Could he be… “getting revenge” on me?

Getting revenge for me throwing fruit at him by the cliff.

Very soon, my guess was proven correct.

Because Xu Wuwang rose to his feet and walked over to me. Then, compared to me, in an utterly un-spiritual fashion, he hopped twice.

After that, he bent down beside my ear, grinned, and imitating a fox’s voice, laughed twice.

“Ahahaha!”
