Of the fifty-plus Aberrants, Qi Lingwu eliminated seven on the spot, while the majority of the rest perished under the heavy artillery fire.

The Priest was one of them.

She straightened up, her gaze arrogant. “Dawn is coming. Let’s make this quick, everyone.”

As soon as she spoke, they lunged forward.

Shrinking back, the Priest watched in despair as the Aberrants who had barely escaped the artillery fire fell one by one.

Was their entire group truly going to be wiped out today?

His eyes flickered as he desperately searched for a way to escape.

The woman and Qiu were huddled beside him.

The woman gritted her teeth. “Priest, what do we do?”

Qiu cursed, “Damn it! It’s all that Daigua’s fault for bringing the enemy right into our main camp!”

The Priest said nothing.

In truth, they all knew that if Sheng An and her team had found this place, they would have found a way in even if Daigua hadn’t led them.

But they still needed a scapegoat for their fury.

If anyone else had encountered Sheng An’s group, they wouldn’t have just led them inside; they would have sounded the alarm, giving the camp time to evacuate…

Qiu cursed again, “I really want to kill that brat!”

The woman added, “I haven’t seen him. He’s probably dead already…”

Before she could finish, a Metal Sphere suddenly came rolling down from the mountaintop at high speed.

The three of them froze.

Most of the Aberrants were dead. Those who survived had fled down the mountain only to run into Li Wanyun’s team. Not a single living soul remained on the summit.

Wu Buyu landed on the ground with the three others.

After finishing off the remaining Aberrants, Li Wanyun put away the deployed Fighter Jets and other equipment before heading up the mountain with Hao Jingye and the rest to regroup.

As soon as they arrived, Dr. Yan and Academician Zhou began collecting samples and conducting research.

Sheng An and the others stood quietly to the side.

Jiang Yu asked curiously, “Why did you let Li Xin take the Priest away?”

This had been a last-minute arrangement by Sheng An, and Jiang Yu didn’t quite understand the reasoning.

Hao Jingye had already figured it out. Pushing up his glasses, he explained, “Previously, we thought this was just a gathering of Aberrants and intended to wipe them all out at once. But clearly, there’s something else going on with this mountain.”
“These Aberrants are making new moves-dangerous ones. Since we can’t get answers directly from them, we’ll have Li Xin continue his undercover mission.

“Whether it’s uncovering their motives or finding other Aberrant Gathering Places, the information will be of immense value.”

Jiang Yu suddenly understood.

Song Linwei took a deep breath and pointed to where the Blood Pool had been.

“The first operation was a diversion-an attempt at a direct confrontation to wipe us out. This is the second operation directed by M: accumulating power and frantically boosting the Aberrants’ Supernatural Abilities so they can grow quickly and catch up to us…”

Normal progression existed for both Superpower Users and Aberrants. With the help of the National Research Institute, the Apocalypse Special Affairs Department wasn’t necessarily slower than the Aberrants.

Therefore, the Aberrants were using other methods.

Hao Jingye’s expression darkened. “The ‘Master’ is M, and the Energy Source is the Meteorite Fragments. Soaking the Fragments in human blood accelerates the release of energy, boosting their Supernatural Ability!”

Discovering this group of Aberrants had validated their theories and answered several lingering questions.

Dr. Yan gave the order, “Turn over the soil. There are quite a few Fragments in the Blood Pool; we must retrieve them.”

The Earth Ability Users immediately sprang into action.

Ji Yani asked in confusion, “If you had suspicions before, why didn’t we hear you mention them?”

Sheng An held a Meteorite Fragment she had been idling with between her fingertips. She looked up, her gaze deep, her voice cold and calm.

“Fragments are the energy for Aberrants, and human blood is their nutrient. Aberrants won’t turn back into humans by absorbing energy, but humans can become Aberrants at any time.”
