Chapter 167

How could they not recognize these two faces?

One was the leader of Group B of the Apocalypse Special Affairs Department, the Superpower User Boss who had wiped out their team of High-level Aberrants-Sheng An.

The other was the wielder of the devastatingly powerful Psychic Ability: King’s Anchor-Qi Lingwu.

That idiot Daigua actually brought them inside?!

If they could win, it would be one thing, but the problem was they couldn’t.

The composure on the Priest’s face vanished instantly. His expression shifted as he stared at Sheng An and Qi Lingwu with extreme wariness.

The other Aberrants reacted the same way. Forgetting their attempts to power up, their bodies went rigid as they turned to face the duo, their expressions filled with tension.

Sheng An, however, remained calm.

She didn’t feel the slightest bit of pressure entering the Aberrants’ nest. Composed and indifferent, she toyed with a coin-sized fragment between her fingers. It was much larger than any of the Fragments the Aberrants had collected.

Qi Lingwu stood quietly behind her, his Supernatural Ability fully active.

Sheng An spoke slowly, “Don’t be nervous. I’m just here to talk.”

The Priest’s face darkened as he glared at her. “How did you find us?”

He didn’t believe for a second that Daigua had actually captured these two.

It was obvious they had been waiting outside and had cooperated with the boy just to be brought in.

At this moment, he was cursing the youth’s stupidity in his heart.

No wonder he was called Daigua. No wonder that woman said he was unreliable. He truly couldn’t be counted on for anything!!

The boy seemed to sense something was wrong as well, shrinking back into the group of Aberrants and hiding behind Qiu.

Qiu: “…”

If the situation weren’t so tense, he really would have liked to beat this idiot to death.

Sheng An’s gaze swept over the Blood Pool, her eyes cold as she looked at the Priest. “I’m the one asking the questions, not you.”

The Priest’s expression soured.

Sheng An said indifferently, “This mountain is already surrounded. Our Artillery Vehicles and Tanks are the latest models. In the sky, the Bombers are already in position.”

With a flick of her fingers, she put away the fragment, revealing a controller held between her fingertips.

She gave a slight smile. “With one press of this button, this mountain will be leveled to the ground.”

“So… shall we talk?”
**

Outside.

Hearing the conversation through the Surveillance, Zhang Kun was momentarily dazed. “That ‘talk’ sounds so familiar…”

Ke Jiaxue added, “It feels like we’ve heard it before, too.”

The two of them, along with Jiang Yu, Song Linwei, and Hao Jingye, all turned to look at Long Tianyu with complex expressions.

Long Tianyu: “…”

His face darkened as he snapped, “What are you looking at? Sheng An is dealing with Aberrants now. The target she wants to ‘talk’ to is an Aberrant, not me!!”

Song Linwei retracted his gaze. “True. Sister Sheng had the patience to ‘talk’ to you several times, but she probably won’t have that for Aberrants. I hope these Aberrants aren’t as tactless as you were.”

Long Tianyu: “…”

He bared his teeth but ultimately said nothing. He kept his eyes glued to the screen while maintaining his Supernatural Ability, ready to activate it and charge in at any moment.

To be honest, when Sheng An’s threat was directed at him, he only felt she was brutal, hateful, and overbearing.

But when the target of the threat was an Aberrant…

It felt damn good.
**

On the mountain.

The Priest instinctively looked up at the sky. Without them noticing, several Fighter Jets had begun circling overhead. Besides them, there was also that familiar large Black Bird.

As dawn gradually broke, these entities became clearly visible, exerting a massive sense of pressure.

Of course, it was impossible for them to bomb everyone to death.

But what the Priest was truly wary of were the Superpower Users from Group B of the Apocalypse Special Affairs Department.

If Sheng An was here, how could the others be absent?

After a long silence, the Priest’s voice sounded hoarse. “What you want to know, we will not tell you.”

Sheng An’s eyes flickered. “You know what I’m going to ask? Then why can’t you tell me? Is it that you’re forbidden from speaking, or that you’re physically unable to?”

The Priest lowered his gaze and did not answer.

Sheng An suddenly asked, “Is it because your Master is controlling you?”

She wanted to see a reaction on the Priest’s face. However, upon hearing this question, he merely kept his eyes downcast without any response at all.

Sheng An’s gaze turned icy.

That so-called “Master” was truly a terrifying existence. It prevented the Aberrants from revealing any information on any level-even their expressions didn’t change, as if any reaction related to such topics had been completely erased from their bodies.
But her intuition told her-

Yes, this so-called “Master” controlled their instincts.

They were controlled to such an extent that it was impossible to extract even a shred of information from any of these Aberrants.

Sheng An let out a soft breath.

This was her final probe.

The result was less than ideal, but it was within her expectations.

With a slight flick of her finger, a sharp shard sliced her fingertip, and a drop of fresh blood welled up.

In an instant, everyone from the Priest to the rank-and-file Aberrants turned their gaze toward her finger. Their eyes were filled with fanatical hunger; those with weaker self-control even began to salivate.

Sheng An let out a cold sneer. “You gather here in secret, acting all mysterious and even appointing a Priest… For a moment, I almost thought you were actually pursuing some metaphysical path to change the nature of Aberrants.

“But in the end, you’re still the same. You crave blood, you’re bloodthirsty and murderous. Aside from using the energy of the Meteorite Fragment to level up, nothing has changed.”

Her voice was dripping with mockery.

The expressions of the Aberrants shifted instantly, and even the Priest clenched his hands into fists.

Sheng An’s smile vanished, her eyes turning cold.

“Since you are Monsters who have usurped human bodies, stop using titles from human civilization. ‘Priest’? What an absurd, mismatched title. Do you really think this qualifies as a Sacrifice Ritual?”

Her gaze fell upon the Blood Pool, her eyes freezing over with contempt.

The Priest roared, “Kill them!”

Since a peaceful resolution was impossible, they would fight to the death.

All the Aberrants lunged toward Sheng An. Qi Lingwu immediately dealt with the ones in the lead. His King’s Anchor Supernatural Ability locked onto his targets; with every shot, an Aberrant fell, each bullet striking perfectly between the eyes!

The Priest gnashed his teeth.

They were even stronger than he had imagined!

Sheng An stood her ground without moving, seemingly under no pressure at all, calm and composed.

In the next heartbeat-

The Giant Bird circling overhead dove rapidly. A Shadow flashed past, and the two of them vanished from the spot.

Long Tianyu had used Flash to bring them onto Wu Buyu’s back!

The entire maneuver took only a second; their teamwork was becoming increasingly seamless.

The Giant Bird was a size larger than it had been on the day of the Apocalypse, a clear sign of its increased strength. Its speed was also faster. After catching them, its black wings flapped once, and like a phoenix rising from the ashes, it soared straight into the sky through the surrounding flames.

It tucked its wings to reduce drag, reaching a high altitude in the blink of an eye.
Boom-*

Then came the sound of explosions.

From the perimeter and from the sky, heavy weaponry bombarded the entire mountain.

Since the Aberrants had gathered here, they would simply be razed to the ground.
Boom-*
Rumble!*

After the deafening roar subsided, the small mountain on the Scorched Earth Plain, once wreathed in flames, had completely vanished.

Wu Buyu flew high in the sky while Sheng An, Qi Lingwu, and Long Tianyu stood on his back, quietly watching the scene below as the bombardment concluded.

This mountain had already been a wreck, tainted by a sea of blood and imbued with the power of the blood and Fragments…

If it were left standing, it would have become a breeding ground for Aberrants. It could no longer be allowed to exist.

How had these large-scale weapons appeared so silently?

Because they had Li Wanyun and Zhang Kun.

Furthermore, among the five hundred people Jing City had sent with them, there was no shortage of specialized talent.

This style of combat was, in fact, what they were most familiar with.

Long Tianyu watched the rising dust and smoke below, scratching the back of his head. “Will any Aberrants survive that?”

“Yes,” Sheng An replied rationally and with certainty. “Powerful Supernatural Abilities can resist many types of lethal weaponry. That is the fundamental reason why Superpower Users became so vital after the Apocalypse.”

Weapons were merely supplementary.

In this kind of Apocalypse, Supernatural Abilities ruled the world.

As for the surviving Aberrants?

Their teammates were already waiting for them.

Long Tianyu started to grin, but his smile suddenly froze. He raised his voice, “Oh no! I forgot Li Xin is still down there!!”

Sheng An glanced at him and said calmly, “Don’t worry. He’s fine.”

Below.

Li Xin had curled himself into a Metal Sphere, lying quietly in the dirt, as immovable as a mountain.

He was perfectly peaceful.
