Chapter 175

After successfully entering the Base, the four of them headed straight for the hospital. By now, they had already completed their Investigation of the hospital’s situation.

It was nothing less than a nest of Aberrants!

What “Divine Descent”?

It was the exact same method Tang Tao used to create Superpower Users, only used here to manufacture even more Aberrants.

And there was no infectious disease.

Aberrants were lurking within the Base, drugging the food to make certain people “sick.” These people were then sent to the hospital to undergo the “Divine Descent.”

Some of those who became Aberrants stayed behind, while others were released to lurk among the humans and help with the “drugging.”

Those who became Superpower Users or failed the process were simply slaughtered and bled dry to enhance the strength of the other Aberrants.

Tang Tao was cruel, but these Aberrants were even worse.

Entering this hospital was a death sentence. No one ever left alive. Those who did walk out were no longer human-they were Parasitic Aberrants.

There wasn’t a single living soul in this entire hospital; it was crawling with Aberrants!

Sheng An’s single-word command of “Kill” was only natural.

Recognizing them, Zhang Changxiu opened his mouth: “It’s the Special-”

The four had already vanished from their spots.

Long Tianyu used Flash to reach the hospital exit and lock it, trapping the prey inside.

Immediately after, the thuds of bodies hitting the floor echoed from every room.

Zhang Changxiu’s eyes widened. He rushed out just in time to see the hospital staff collapsing one by one.

He had been captured by the nurses before and knew exactly how fast and strong they were.

Yet, in the face of Sheng An’s team, they had no power to fight back.

Li Wanyun and Long Tianyu were a league of their own. One used Spatial Blades while the other used Flash. Both were Six-Star Superpower Users, and their lethality was staggering.

Wu Buyu was not to be outdone. With his sharp claws, he easily crushed the necks of his enemies.

Witnessing the same bloody slaughter as before, Zhang Changxiu felt entirely different this time.

Before, he had felt rage and despair; now, he felt excitement and fervor.

Perhaps it was because the Apocalypse Special Affairs Department struck with such clean efficiency. Even though the Aberrants occupied the bodies of their fellow countrymen, the team never engaged in the bloody torture the Aberrants favored. Every kill was swift and decisive.

It was also because they killed Aberrants to protect their home and country, while the Aberrants killed humans as an act of invasion.

The three of them moved with clinical precision, their Supernatural Abilities proving overwhelmingly powerful.

However, Zhang Changxiu found himself unable to look away from Sheng An. She stood there quietly, raising her hand to fire. With every shot, another enemy fell.

Realizing Sheng An was the core of the group, the cornered Aberrants lunged at her in a desperate counterattack.

Zhang Changxiu saw an Aberrant blur toward Sheng An with terrifying speed.

“Watch out!” he screamed.

Sheng An raised her other hand, which held a knife. She parried the attack, and a gunshot followed immediately after.

The Aberrant collapsed.

Zhang Changxiu breathed a sigh of relief.

But in that same instant, Sheng An suddenly raised her foot and stomped violently on her own Shadow on the floor.

Zhang Changxiu froze.

From the Shadow she was pinning down, a person suddenly materialized, clutching a scalpel in a striking posture!

Zhang Changxiu gasped.

Calmly, Sheng An grabbed the woman’s hand before she could react. Using the Aberrant’s own scalpel, Sheng An slit the creature’s throat with a backhand flick.

Discarding the corpse, she stood up with a composed expression.

Long Tianyu appeared by her side, letting out a breath.

“That scared me. To think there’s a Supernatural Ability that lets someone hide in a Shadow… Sheng An, did you see that coming?”

Sheng An nodded.

Her “visions” were becoming more frequent. Moreover, they now only caused a slight feverish sensation rather than the debilitating physical reactions she’d suffered before.

The Meteorite Fragment the Research Institute had her carry…

It seemed to actually be working.

Her Supernatural Ability was becoming clearer and clearer.

Currently, her power served a supportive role, but she desperately wanted to know: could her ability be used for combat?

And if so, how?

Sheng An spoke: “Let’s go. I’m going to get the manifest. We still need to clear out the hidden Aberrants in the Shelter.”

Those who had left the hospital alive… or those who had come to the hospital to drink blood and successfully left… they were all Aberrants.

Even if the whole place was an Aberrant nest, they would purge it!
**

Escape!

He had to escape!

Only four people, yet they had nearly wiped them all out.

Tian Jiaming’s face was ashen.

Ling hissed through gritted teeth, “Damn it, why did she come back? Where did you people leak the information!”

Tian Jiaming clenched his fists and roared back, “How should I know? Aside from the few of us, everyone else outside was an ordinary person. If they noticed something was wrong, it’s because your Supernatural Ability failed!”
Ling was left speechless.

Another person frowned. “We need to run. We have a Speed-type Superpower User with us; as long as we escape, we’ll be safe. We still have three Energy Sources, so it’s not a total loss.”

Aberrants didn’t care about the deaths of their own kind.

Tian Jiaming thought about it and realized they were right. Their plan had failed, but they still had three Energy Sources and over a dozen companions. There was still hope.

The Apocalypse Special Affairs Department only had four people here, and they still had to purge the Shelter. This was their chance to escape!

Run!

Run for their lives!

They didn’t even care about the sun as they sprinted frantically across the scorching, cracked earth.

Then-

They came to a dead halt.

A figure appeared ahead of them, flanked by two others.

Ji Yani, the Speed-type Superpower User.

Liu Yue, the Fire Ability User, and-the Silence Ability User, Gu Qiansheng.

Gu Qiansheng gave a faint smile. “Gentlemen, thinking of running? I’m afraid that won’t do.”
Hao Jingye and Wan Yuan rushed to the D3 Shelter.

Sheng An stood on the Shelter’s podium, quiet and still, like a mountain supporting the crumbling refuge.

Hao Jingye let out a breath, scanning the Shelter’s residents as they hurried past. Their faces were filled with panic and unease.

He looked at her. “Have you told them about the situation in D3?”

Sheng An nodded. “I’ve already informed them.”

She told them which people had entered and left the hospital, and who might be hidden Aberrants. With only four of them, they needed everyone’s help to screen the population.

Hao Jingye’s heart tightened, then eased.

This wasn’t the time before the Apocalypse anymore. No matter what happened, everyone had to face it themselves.

He looked at the people’s faces again. They were terrified, yet when they saw Sheng An standing on the podium, their steps became firmer and their eyes gradually steadied.

D3 was a nest of Aberrants, which was undoubtedly a massive shock, but the previous infectious disease had been equally desperate.

Compared to before, identifying and solving the problem was actually better.

As long as they could see Sheng An, they knew the Apocalypse Special Affairs Department and the Nation were with them.

The Aberrant problem they had failed to notice had been discovered and dealt with by the department. In the midst of despair, hope had returned.

The hurried footsteps gradually became orderly.

Wan Yuan sighed. “So the entire D3 hospital was compromised. No wonder the Aberrants on the mountain could build a Blood Pool-D3 was providing them with a constant supply of blood. They could have as many living people as they wanted…”

Hao Jingye’s expression was grim. “We must report this to the Nation immediately. These Aberrants are highly intelligent and skilled at hiding. A single high-ranking official turning into an Aberrant has a massive impact on a Shelter, let alone them artificially creating Aberrants!”

Wan Yuan nodded.

Sheng An looked at him and spoke slowly. “We don’t just need to report to the Nation; we need to notify all Shelters and tell everyone about this.

“Individual hidden Aberrants don’t pose a massive threat. The real danger is when Aberrants gather to plot something.”

She said each word with deliberate weight: “Then we will wipe out every Aberrant Gathering Place. If they dare to huddle together, then they can die together!”

If the Aberrants wanted to gather and cause trouble?

Then they would die together!

Her expression was calm and her voice was cool, yet it carried an endless aura of slaughter.

They knew why Sheng An was reacting this way.

Excluding those who had already been killed and the Aberrants who had been rooted out, the D3 Shelter had lost forty percent of its people.

When the Meteorite fell, they had managed to save ninety percent of the population through their efforts.

But the Aberrant crisis had claimed another forty percent.

How terrifying.

Wan Yuan nodded heavily. “I’ll report this situation immediately.”

Hao Jingye added, “Once the higher-ups receive the news, they will immediately appoint a new Shelter Director. I will assist him in restoring order as quickly as possible. After that, we begin purging the Aberrant Gathering Places.”

The Nation had already begun screening, and there was also the Priest-he would help them “find” some of them as well.

M’s second step was “Divine Descent,” the creation of Aberrants and High-level Aberrants.

Then their second step would be a “Purge.” They would purge all Aberrant operations, striking until they didn’t dare to make a move before they could create any more of their kind!

Even if they remained hidden among humans, they would have to keep their tails tucked tight!
