Chapter 179

The Priestess looked at him in confusion.

The Old Priest was also stunned.

Daigua didn’t give his usual silly grin. Instead, he said calmly, “Leave the Fragments.”

The Old Priest snapped to his senses.

His gaze turned cold. “Right. You can leave, but you must leave the Energy Source behind for us.”

Their current state was abysmal; they couldn’t hold on much longer. Whether it was flesh, food, or energy, they needed something to sustain their lives.

There was no sentimentality between Aberrants.

Since they couldn’t seize an Energy Source from elsewhere, they could only target the one right in front of them…

The “Master” had never contacted them, and they were being purged by the Apocalypse Special Affairs Department. The Aberrants had long since fallen into chaos, and now everyone only cared for their own lives and interests.

The Priestess’s expression shifted.

Then, she sneered. “You certainly have the numbers, but do you still have any combat power? If you want to steal my things, keep dreaming!”

As soon as she finished speaking, she turned to leave at a high speed.
Thump-*

However, several dark lines flowed across the ground, forming the character for “Prison,” attempting to trap the Priestess inside.

This was Qiu’s Supernatural Ability!

Even though his energy was depleted, he still managed to squeeze out a sliver of power to trap her for a fleeting moment.

It could only hold her for a moment.

Qiu’s vision went black, and he slumped to the ground. Taking advantage of that split second, Daigua lunged forward and began fighting the Priestess.
Bang!*
Clang! Clang!*

The more the Priestess fought, the more alarmed she became.

She had originally thought that since she had the strength of a 3-star at her peak, these people-exhausted from their constant flight-would be no match for her.

She hadn’t expected that even with only a sliver of energy left, Daigua could fight her to a standstill using such vicious combat techniques!

Even the Old Priest and the others were shocked.

“Daigua is actually this strong?” the woman murmured.

The Old Priest was also in a daze.

Indeed.

This was too strong. He had consumed the most energy along the way, yet he could still fight now, and he wasn’t losing to the Priestess…

Where did he learn those combat moves?

Something flashed through the Old Priest’s mind, but in his dizzy, exhausted state, he couldn’t quite grasp it.

By now, Daigua had used his ferocious combat skills to suppress the Priestess.
Crack-*

He snapped her neck directly!

The remaining three were all startled.

Daigua was actually this ruthless?

They had always treated him as a simpleton who was easy to bully!

This battle had clearly taken a lot out of him. After Daigua panted heavily for a moment, he leaned over, attempting to take the Meteorite Fragment.
Whoosh-*

A faster Shadow beat him to it.

The woman, who possessed the Silence ability, had been quietly accumulating energy. She snatched the fragment away. Her Supernatural Ability was concealment; when she activated it, her speed was incredible. She sprinted along the darkness, preparing to escape.

“Stop her!” the Old Priest roared in fury.

As expected, once the Aberrants scattered, even the people he brought with him were no longer stable. They wanted to take the Energy Source and leave to perform an Enhancement on themselves rather than stay by the Old Priest’s side…

Daigua chased after her to intercept.

But Qiu was even faster than him.

The Old Priest’s hands shook with rage.

How could he not see it? Both of these people wanted to snatch the Energy Source and escape on their own!

“Daigua, kill them all!” The Old Priest’s eyes turned sharp.

Daigua, of course, showed no mercy.

The two hadn’t expected him to still have the strength to fight. As they were defeated, their pupils shrank.

He was a High-rank!

How could Daigua be a High-rank?!

However, they weren’t given any time to think. Daigua snapped their necks, cutting off their breath.

The Old Priest let out a long sigh of relief.

Dragging his failing body, he walked slowly to Daigua’s side and said hoarsely:

“They actually all betrayed me. Fortunately, I still have you… Don’t worry. Although you aren’t very smart, your strength is formidable. I will definitely ensure you stay alive!

“They are all afraid of humans, but I am not. I will find a safe place and establish a Blood Pool to let you quickly advance…”

Previously, he had disdained Daigua for being stupid, and the boy had nearly driven him to a stroke several times.

But now, he finally understood-

Though Daigua was dim-witted, he was truly loyal.
He couldn’t possibly abandon the “Divine Descent” operation. Those Priests had been beaten into submission by the Apocalypse Special Affairs Department, but he had escaped their clutches multiple times. As long as he had Daigua with him, what did he have to fear?

Once he established the Blood Pool, initiated the Divine Descent, and cultivated more companions, Daigua’s strength would be unparalleled. By placing him in the Blood Pool and injecting him with energy, he would surely become powerful enough to face those people from the Apocalypse Special Affairs Department without fear!

The Priest was brimming with confidence.

He walked over to Daigua’s side and reached out, intending to take the Energy Source from his hand.

As he drew closer, he suddenly heard Daigua murmuring, “There are no more Aberrants left. They’re all dead. I can finally go back.”

The Priest froze.

He asked blankly, “What do you mean everyone is dead? Aren’t we still alive?”

Hearing this, Daigua looked at him and gave a faint smile.

This smile was completely different from his usual self. In that instant, even his golden pupils shifted.

The Priest suddenly had an ominous premonition…

He instinctively retreated a few steps, stumbling.

At the same time, the thought that had been eluding him finally snapped into focus. His face twisted in terror.

No!

Daigua had previously referred to the “Energy Source” as Fragments!

Only humans called them that.

No wonder they were plagued by misfortune wherever they went-it was because Daigua was a human! No, more accurately, he was a member of the Apocalypse Special Affairs Department!

-So they had been keeping a Superpower User from the department by their side this whole time, putting up with his temper and trusting him implicitly?

-It turned out that previous Priest was right; they really were cursed with bad luck.

How could they not be cursed when they were carrying an undercover agent around with them?!

The Priest finally understood.

But it was too late. His neck was snapped, and he collapsed to the ground.

In his final flicker of consciousness, he saw the familiar body of “Daigua” shift slightly, transforming into a human. That face, which had been propped up by steel, returned to its original appearance.

A Giant Bird landed from the sky.

Before he closed his eyes, the last conversation he heard was-

“Good job. You hid yourself well. Sister Sheng sent me to pick you up.”

“Hehehe, who do you think I am!”

“…The Daigua disguise is over. Stop laughing like that, or Long Tianyu might punch you.”

…

That wasn’t some Daigua at all.

That was the Apocalypse Special Affairs Department’s very own “Metal Man,” Li Xin.
Hao Jingye reported the progress of their work with professional precision:

“Everything is going smoothly. All Aberrant strongholds in the Southwest region have been cleared. Team Leader Qiu’s side also took down three outposts. Combined with the Nation’s operations, a total of eleven Aberrant strongholds have been cleared so far.”

Jiang Yu gasped.

Gu Qiansheng shook his head. “Eleven. If we hadn’t detected them in advance and let them develop in the shadows, they would have become a massive catastrophe for humanity in a year-no, maybe even half a year.”

Song Linwei’s voice was calm. “There might be more than eleven. Some might have scattered after hearing rumors, and there are likely other strongholds still hidden that haven’t been found yet.”

Hao Jingye nodded in agreement and continued, “The Nation will continue its investigations, but from this point on, they will only become harder to find. The Aberrant strongholds have either been completely wiped out or are hiding extremely deep.”

Sheng An remained composed.

She gave a soft smile. “It’s enough that the majority have been dealt with. Now that the Nation and the various Shelters are on guard, the remaining Aberrants will have to restrain themselves and won’t dare to show their faces. M’s ‘Divine Descent’ operation can be considered mostly aborted.”

And it was true. By clearing out the strongholds they could find, the remaining ones were under constant surveillance.

Just like the Jing City Base after the previous fishing operation, one couldn’t say there were no Aberrants hiding there, but it was already difficult for them to play the role M had intended.

The Cleansing Operation had successfully thwarted the Divine Descent.

Hao Jingye chuckled. “True. We’ve won this round again, and we’ve gained a lot of useful information. Dr. Yan already has some new ideas.”

-Regardless, they had won another battle and were one step closer to the truth.

Li Xin let out a grin. “Hehehe.”

The smile vanished from Long Tianyu’s face. He slapped him and barked, “Stop making that stupid laughing sound!”

Li Xin: “…”

Old Man Qin, who had just widened his mouth to laugh, silently shut it and covered Qin Xuan’s mouth as well.

They retracted their laughter.
