Was the Villain a Cauldron All Along? - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Two in the morning.
By the time I got home, I was dead on my feet.
The room had clearly been tidied up. Every trace of dust had been wiped clean, and everything was arranged neatly in its place.
Wen Yan clutched his lower abdomen and limped out of the bedroom.
“You’re back.” He paused, then awkwardly forced out, “Master.”
“You can call me Sister, too.”
I walked over to Wen Yan, slapped away the hand covering his lower abdomen, lifted the hem of his T-shirt, hooked a finger under the waistband of his sweatpants, and slowly pulled it down inch by inch.
His beautiful V-line gradually came into view. But what appeared along with it was a wound on his lower abdomen so deep I could see bone.
The edges had long since scabbed over in dark brown, and at the deepest point, I could faintly make out white bone and the black toxin of the zombies.
“How did you get hurt this badly?” I frowned.
I hadn’t touched lower yesterday, so I had no idea there was such a horrifying wound here.
Wen Yan instinctively tried to cover it. “It’s almost healed… It won’t keep me from working. Really.”
I sighed. What kind of walking medicine jar had I brought home?
Then I took two painkillers out of my pack and handed them to him. “Tomorrow, I’ll have a friend with healing abilities take a look at you. For tonight, use these to get through it.”
“I don’t need…” Wen Yan was still trying to refuse, so I took the chance to pinch his jaw and toss the pills into his mouth.
“All right, I don’t have time to listen to you being polite. Hurry up and lie down with me. I’m exhausted.”
“Okay…”
I took off my combat uniform, washed up, and went back to the bedroom.
Wen Yan was lying on the bed, stiff and proper, straight as a board, with both hands folded over his lower abdomen.
I climbed into bed, wrapped my arms around his waist while carefully avoiding his wound, and slipped my fingers under his T-shirt.
His entire body went tense, his muscles hard as iron, the tips of his ears turning red.
“…You’re not lying in a coffin. Relax a little.”
A faint current gathered at my fingertips as I stroked along his abs.
Wen Yan let out a soft hum, and his body loosened slightly. “Mm… okay, Sister.”
“Close your eyes.”
With my hand on his eight-pack, I fell asleep in no time.
Chapter 5
I slept especially deeply.
So deeply that I woke up late the next day. I didn’t have time to find someone to take a look at Wen Yan before I had to rush out on a mission.
Only after leaving did I realize I hadn’t double-locked the door today.
Fortunately, Wen Yan didn’t run off. When I came back, he was still there to greet me, limping as before.
This mission hadn’t gone so smoothly.
The zombies weren’t high-level, but there were far too many of them. Every last one kept jumping up, trying to grab my neck and choke me out.
As a result, several bloody scratches had been added to my neck.
“Sister, you’re hurt?”
“Mm.” I collapsed onto the sofa and crooked a finger at Wen Yan. “Come here.”
He stopped in front of me, his tall figure casting a shadow over me.
“Squat down.”
Wen Yan knelt on one knee in front of me.
I used the small knife I carried with me to cut my index finger, then reached into his mouth and brushed it against the tip of his tongue.
Wen Yan stared at me with wide eyes.
“I washed my hands.”
I pulled my hand back and looked down at my finger.
Sure enough, the cut had healed.
What the barrage said was true.
Wen Yan looked a little nervous. “Sister, how… how did you know?”
“I found out by accident while you were unconscious.” I told a small lie.
“Can you heal this for me?”
I leaned back against the sofa, tilted my head, and pointed at the zombie scratches on my neck.
“I should be able to.”
Wen Yan was still kneeling on one knee in front of me, his hands braced on either side of me as he leaned slightly forward.
Then, as if he had suddenly realized how suggestive the position was, he awkwardly drew back and looked at me uncertainly.
I shrugged. “Lick it.”
He hesitated no longer. Lowering his head to my neck, he closed his eyes and gently licked the wound.
The soft touch, accompanied by the boy’s light, shallow breathing, brushed over me like a feather.
It was tingling and a little itchy, again and again, until even I couldn’t help going slightly stiff.
Creak.
The abrupt sound of the door opening shattered the mood. Wen Yan hurriedly pushed himself up.
Gu Zeyan was standing in the doorway.
He froze for a second, then his expression darkened. “Who is he?”
The sparse bullet comments livened up with his return.
[Holy crap. I missed a few days, and the Female Supporting Character really did hook up with the Villain.]
[The Male Lead probably thought that after leaving the Female Supporting Character hanging for three days, she’d be unable to sleep every night and still have to go out on missions during the day. By now, she should be haggard, with dark circles under her eyes, begging him pitifully to come back.]
[Yeah. According to the original plot, the Male Lead realizes he has no ability and can’t protect the Female Lead at all. The Crystal Core he saved up has all been spent too, so he can only come back and negotiate with the Female Supporting Character. Then the Female Supporting Character agrees to give him two Tier-Two Crystal Core every day from then on, one for the Male Lead to level up with and the other for him to live on with the Female Lead.]
[It’s over. Now that the Female Supporting Character is sleeping with the Villain in her arms, how is the Male Lead supposed to awaken his ability without her Crystal Core?]
[Honestly, I always thought this part of the original plot was pretty buggy. Are men with abs that hard to find? Why does it have to be the Male Lead?]
[Please. Go take a walk outside right now and see how many guys with abs you run into. Besides, this is the apocalypse. Everyone’s malnourished. Where are you going to find men with abs?]
[You guys don’t actually believe it’s because the Male Lead has abs, do you? Too naive. The Female Supporting Character risked her life earning Crystal Core to keep the Male Lead around. She definitely likes him.]
So I finally understood why I couldn’t sleep unless I was holding a handsome guy with abs.
It turned out the plot had been rigged to make me simp for him.
I narrowed my eyes. “Need something?”
Gu Zeyan laughed once. His cold gaze swept over Wen Yan before returning to me.
“Starting again, are we? Do you think this is interesting?”
[I’m dying. The Male Lead saw right through her at a glance. The Female Supporting Character is acting up again just to make him mad.]
[Male Lead: I refuse to even acknowledge this.]
[Ugly people really do love making drama. The Female Supporting Character keeps pulling this crap for attention, but in the end, won’t she still obediently beg the Male Lead to come back?]
To be fair, this wasn’t the first time I’d wanted to replace Gu Zeyan.
We’d had conflicts before too. Whenever I was too annoyed to coax him, I’d go wander around the market.
But most of the time, I came back empty-handed.
After all, this was the apocalypse. Men didn’t pay much attention to their looks even in ordinary times, and now the supply was abysmal.
Occasionally there were a few decent-looking ones, but compared with Gu Zeyan, they were worlds apart.
Add in all the time we’d spent adjusting to each other, and the force of habit, and every time, I ended up being the one to lower my head first.
After that happened a few times, Gu Zeyan became more and more convinced that I couldn’t do without him.
Seeing that I was unmoved, he gave a cold laugh.
“Jiang Yu, you’re really something. Don’t come begging me to come back later.”
With that, he slammed the door hard and left without looking back.
“Jiejie.” Wen Yan was still kneeling in front of me. “Did your boyfriend misunderstand? I can explain it to him.”
“He’s not my boyfriend.”
I thought about it. “At most, I guess he counts as my employee.”
