I carried Wei Mian to the sofa. He lay so still he might have passed out.

The moment I set him down, he slipped from my arms.

I curled my fingers with a twinge of regret.

Wei Mian’s waist was slim and taut.

It felt good.

I loved touching it.

Maybe next time I could try drugging him…

The mere thought of Wei Mian unconscious on a bed, unable to resist anything I did to him, made my face flush with excitement and my breathing quicken.

Song Zhijie acted as if he owned the place. After setting down the keys, he searched everywhere for a cup. “We should give him some water…”

I pushed the thoughts from my mind, walked to the table, picked up the cup Wei Mian usually used, filled it with water, and helped him drink.

When I finished, Song Zhijie gave me an odd look. “Why do you seem so familiar with this place?”

My arms froze as I lifted Wei Mian.

I didn’t see the fleeting smile at the corner of the man’s lips.

I raised my eyes in a fluster and explained, “His apartment has the same layout as mine. I’m used to it.”

Song Zhijie stared at me for several seconds. “Where’s the bathroom?”

He rolled up his sleeves, looking deeply concerned. “I’ll wipe his face.”

At this point in the story, Song Zhijie and Wei Mian were still very close.

They studied the same major, with Song Zhijie as the senior and Wei Mian as his junior.

Before Wei Mian turned dark, Song Zhijie had always believed his junior was gentle, kind, and utterly harmless.

He often said things like, “I feel most at ease when I’m with you,” and, “Whoever ends up with you is going to be so lucky.”

Even the readers had taken Wei Mian for the gentle second male lead destined to watch over the protagonist from the sidelines.

So when Wei Mian learned of Song Zhijie’s engagement, abruptly showed his true colors, lured the protagonist home, drugged him, and imprisoned him, countless readers said in the comments that it felt like they’d wandered into a horror story.

I knew Song Zhijie’s concern for Wei Mian right now came from nothing more than the bond between a senior and junior.

Even so, I couldn’t suppress my anger and displeasure at the thought of someone taking what belonged to me.

The hand hidden behind Wei Mian’s waist clenched hard around him.

Hah.

He’d had Song Zhijie bring him home in the middle of the night.

What was he plotting? We were both perverts. Did he really think I couldn’t tell?

Shameless!

He needed to be taught a lesson!

Receiving no answer, Song Zhijie raised his voice. “Song Zaixi, are you even listening to me?”

I pressed my lips together without looking up and let my bangs hide my expression. “The bathroom’s over there. Just push the door open.”

Song Zhijie was used to my gloomy, peculiar manner. He took a towel into the bathroom.

As water began to run, I bent over Wei Mian’s ear and whispered ominously, “Baby, you’ve been so naughty.”

“Not only did you fall for someone else without permission, you even dared to bring another man home in the middle of the night.”

“Didn’t I tell you? If you dare fall in love with anyone else, you’re dead…”

“Did you not read the notes I stuffed through your door, baby?”

“Have you forgotten everything I told you?”

“I promise you’ll learn your lesson for what you did today!”

“Wei Mian, you should be grateful Song Zhijie is here. Otherwise, you can’t imagine the terrible things I would do to you…”

The next instant, Wei Mian rolled over.

His soft lips brushed the corner of my mouth.

All the poisonous resentment boiling inside me went cold in an instant.

I stood there dazed for a long while, then instinctively lifted a hand to touch my lips.

When I realized it hadn’t been a delusion, my face exploded with heat.

I shot to my feet, scuttled backward until I hit the wall, and pressed my back firmly against it.

I stared at Wei Mian as though he were some terrifying monster.

I didn’t dare move a muscle.

A kiss… Wei Mian and I had kissed…

Huh?

Huh?!

Ahhh!!

Red-faced and bristling all over, I practically embedded myself in the wall for nearly a minute.

At last, I survived the urge to hold my breath until I suffocated.

Once I calmed down, I understood.

Wei Mian must have mistaken me for Song Zhijie. That was why he’d kissed me.

Hah.

Ha. Ha.

Slut!

Even unconscious, he was still seducing men!

I hated Song Zhijie.

I hated Wei Mian for loving Song Zhijie even more.

Tears welled in my eyes as I stared at Wei Mian’s long, curled lashes and peaceful sleeping face.

Through gritted teeth, I cursed, “Whore!”

By then, Song Zhijie had finally finished soaking the towel and came back out.

The man who had volunteered to wipe Wei Mian’s face frowned at his watch, then casually tossed the towel to me.

“Song Zaixi, something came up. I have to go. Stay here and take care of my junior for me.”

He started toward the door, then glanced back at me uncertainly. “You can manage, right?”

“My junior can usually hold his liquor. He only drank too much today because I announced my engagement and he was happy for me.”

“I didn’t keep an eye on him, so this is my responsibility…”

I couldn’t hear another word Song Zhijie said after that.

My chest had gone frighteningly cold.

Partly because I was genuinely terrified.

I had just realized that I’d become so obsessed with stalking and watching Wei Mian that I’d nearly forgotten my mission to stop him from imprisoning Song Zhijie.

In the original novel, it was the news of Song Zhijie’s engagement that drove Wei Mian to get thoroughly drunk.

After that binge, he turned completely dark and began plotting to imprison Song Zhijie and take him by force.

That was close.

I’d almost missed the crucial plot point!

It was all that temptress Wei Mian’s fault!

And then, there was the other reason: I finally understood.

When all was said and done, Wei Mian had gotten drunk today because of Song Zhijie.

He loved Song Zhijie.

Loved him enough to want to imprison him.

Hah.

I’d sent him so many messages, so many warnings and threats!

He hadn’t taken a single one to heart.

He was far too disobedient.

I was furious. Absolutely furious.

I had to punish him severely and make sure he never dared ignore me again!

With that thought, I lowered my head and stared at the floor before my toes. In a hollow voice, I said, “Sure.”

“I’ll take very, very good care of him.”
