Chapter 2

I looked at Chen Yan through my tears.

He was tall and had a strong build. My mom and I had both been very satisfied with him.

Just yesterday, Mom had given me a few pamphlets, telling me to study hard and enjoy myself. I had been a very diligent student, spending half the night carefully analyzing every detail. It had gotten to the point where I spent the latter half of the night trapped in all sorts of messy dreams.

When I woke up, I felt completely drained.

But now, the prize within my grasp had flown away. Where was I supposed to find another ready-made, capable boyfriend?

Chen Yan watched as I sobbed uncontrollably, but his expression was one of annoyance. He glanced back at Xu Ran, who was standing not far away.

Xu Ran was also losing her patience, shouting at him, “Chen Yan, are you done breaking up yet? Are you fucking coaxing a child? Get it over with!”

When Chen Yan spoke again, his tone was stiff and cold.

“Li Wu, seriously, crying won’t help. I’m not going to change my mind.”

I bit the soft flesh of my lip, looking at him with red, watery eyes as I hiccuped. “Chen Yan, can we wait until tomorrow to break up?”

At least let me get through tonight first. I was terrified that my rabbit ears would pop out any second and I’d be snatched away by some big shot from 749 for live human experimentation.

Chen Yan let out a scoff at my words. “Give it a rest, Li Wu. Are you really that in love with me?”

Actually, my love was very superficial. I was purely a fan of his face and physique.

Time was ticking away, second by second. I felt like my body temperature was skyrocketing, and my consciousness was starting to blur.

“Chen Yan, I’m begging you.”

“Not a chance.”

Chen Yan grew even more irritated. Just then, he spotted a familiar figure and an idea immediately struck him.

“Jiang Chiye!”

Chen Yan took a few quick strides over and dragged the person back with him.

“Boss, help me deal with this. I’ve got a date.”

Jiang Chiye was wearing a hoodie with headphones on. He had a handsome face, but his expression was icy. He was very tall-taller than Chen Yan-with long legs and broad shoulders.

As for his physique…

I remembered one time when I went to Chen Yan’s off-campus apartment to find him. Jiang Chiye had just come back from a run. He was shirtless, wearing only a pair of light gray sweatpants.

His muscles were incredible. And down there…

I couldn’t help but swallow hard. Maybe it was just that gray fabric made things look bigger.

Jiang Chiye took off his headphones and looked down at me. My gaze immediately locked onto his fingers, and I couldn’t look away.

They were so long. I mean his fingers. And they looked very powerful. Again, I’m talking about his fingers.

That day at Chen Yan’s apartment, I had almost slipped and fallen off the sofa. Jiang Chiye had caught me with just one hand. Even though I hadn’t started my secondary development yet, I was still five-foot-three!

“Forget it, pretend I didn’t say anything. I know you don’t like meddling in other people’s business,” Chen Yan started to say.

Suddenly, Jiang Chiye let out a soft “Mm.”

“You’re agreeing?”

Jiang Chiye nodded, his face remaining as stoic and aloof as ever.

Chen Yan frowned, looking surprised. But Xu Ran was already fuming. “Chen Yan, if you’re not leaving, I am!”

“Alright then. Sorry to trouble you. Just make sure she doesn’t start crying and screaming or trying to kill herself,” Chen Yan instructed hurriedly.

He cast one last look back at me as he left. But my gaze was firmly glued to Jiang Chiye. I didn’t notice him at all.
