Chapter 131

The second Alien looked like a balding old man. The three remaining black hairs on his head were actually small black tentacles that he couldn’t hide, wriggling about on his scalp.

“My Contracted Human committed suicide after a mental breakdown not long after giving birth. Now it’s just me and my thirty-plus children, depending on each other to survive.

“I’m here to find a partner for my eldest. My requirements aren’t high-as long as they’re human. Our family can’t provide any Magnetic Value, but we’re quite open-minded. We support the human going out to work for themselves.”

Gu Huaiwei drew an X behind the name of the second matchmaking relative.

“We don’t do charity cases. Next.”

The old man sat on the stool and refused to budge. He said brazenly, “The twenty minutes aren’t up yet. If my eldest isn’t a match, what do you think of me? You’re getting up there in years and you aren’t wearing a Bonding Ring. I doubt any other Alien would want you. Why not try making a life with me?”

“Wow, you’re actually trying to hit on your potential mother-in-law.” Gu Huaiwei immediately raised her hand and called over Lin She, who was in charge of managing the scene. “Event coordinator, someone here isn’t following the rules. Please clear him out.”

Lin She forcibly escorted the old man out.

The third Alien finally wore a slightly more expensive Skin Suit. He looked even younger than Gu Huaiwei, appearing like a high school student with delicate features, though his actual age was over a hundred.

“I only have one child to worry about. He seeks a soulmate and hopes for a human who can understand the language of Aliens, as well as our history, our wars, and our glory.”

Gu Huaiwei lowered her eyes, offering no comment. “Do you have a photo?”

“I do.”

After swapping photos, Gu Huaiwei looked at the picture of a spacious villa and the profile of an Alien sitting there playing the piano. Thinking it looked decent enough, she continued the conversation.

“My foster daughter hopes the other party can provide sixty thousand Magnetic Value a year. Ideally, they shouldn’t have had a previous Bonding partner and can devote themselves entirely to accompanying and caring for my daughter.”

“Magnetic Value isn’t an issue, and neither are companionship and care. What matters is whether your daughter can abandon her human-centric ideology. She shouldn’t go out whenever she pleases, shouldn’t meet other unbonded Aliens, and shouldn’t speak to humans who aren’t immediate family.”

Even though the Alien before her had the youthful, vibrant face of a male high school student, the words coming out of his mouth were those of a total fossil.

“I’m sorry, I can’t give a definitive answer on that. I’ll have to ask.”

“Then let’s exchange contact information.”

After exchanging info, they moved on to the next round of matchmaking.

Over the next three hours, Gu Huaiwei witnessed the sheer diversity of species.

The mindsets of these Aliens were actually quite similar to those of humans.

Some Aliens came here to make wishes without looking at their own Skin Suits or the meager Magnetic Value in their accounts.

Some Aliens clearly had decent conditions but didn’t want to contribute anything while wanting to gain everything, attempting to find a human who wasn’t very bright.

There were some Aliens Gu Huaiwei liked, but they didn’t like He Jiarui because her current physical and mental state was too poor to meet their requirements for a human.

In short, the ones Gu Huaiwei thought were suitable for He Jiarui didn’t agree to the match.

And the ones who were interested in He Jiarui had conditions that Gu Huaiwei found too poor.

Both sides were looking up, trying to reach for something better.

“This is so hard.” Gu Huaiwei used a toothpick to spear a piece of cantaloupe from a fruit platter, stuffing it into her mouth. One side of her cheek puffed out as she chewed.
Just sitting there for three hours left her feeling parched and her back aching.

Seated next to Gu Huaiwei was a human grandmother. From the moment she entered, she hadn’t stopped drinking Magnetic Beverages. Despite this, within those short three hours, Gu Huaiwei noticed that the woman’s hair had turned even whiter than before.

If humans did not have enough stored Magnetic Value in their bodies, their aging became visible to the naked eye.

The old woman’s face was covered in wrinkles. During the intermission, she held a cup of hot tea with a weary expression and chatted with Gu Huaiwei. “Has your daughter found a suitable match yet?”

“I’ve added a few potential candidates, but nothing has been finalized yet.”

The old woman stared at Gu Huaiwei’s face and said with some surprise, “Your face… it seems to have stayed the same since the beginning. Your skin looks a bit wrinkled, but there are no signs of further aging.”

Gu Huaiwei shifted her empty Magnetic Beverage cup on the table and smiled. “I have enough Magnetic Value stored in my body.”

“That’s wonderful.” The old woman immediately showed a look of envy. “As expected, after the Celestial Anomaly, humans should give up the fantasy and stay with Aliens.

Actually, three years ago, I was supported by an Alien too. I looked young back then. But later, I fell in love with a human and broke things off with my Bonding partner. I fought tooth and nail to live with a human… and the result…”

The old woman stroked the graying hair at her temples, sighing with emotion. “In just three years, no matter how hard my human husband worked or how much I worked, we couldn’t earn enough Magnetic Value to maintain our appearance.”

Aliens were the rulers of this world. They made the rules, and the rules were naturally in their favor.

The hypocrisy of the Aliens lay in the fact that they never openly told humans not to be with other humans. There was no coercion, no threats. They shouted slogans about caring for humans, respecting humans, and giving humans freedom… yet in reality, they made it impossible for humans to live a dignified life through their own labor.

It seemed as though the choice was in the hands of humans.

In reality, humans had no choice.

When appearances changed and survival took precedence over emotions, those romantic notions turned into the mundane grind of daily life, and so-called love was no longer so romantic.

Gu Huaiwei asked the old woman, “Are you here to find a match for your human child?”

“No, I’m here for my cousin. She’s about to have her coming-of-age ceremony, so I came early to scout for a suitable Alien partner for her.” Having suffered herself, the old woman didn’t want her cousin to follow in her footsteps.

“You should attend more events. This shop has a very high success rate,” Gu Huaiwei said, not being the least bit humble when praising her own Matchmaking Agency.

The first day of the Matchmaking Event ended successfully.

All customers who participated in this Matchmaking Event were entered into the Oasis Matchmaking Agency’s system. Whether they were later matched through the agency’s follow-up services or Bonded on their own, the agency’s system would automatically track them and count it toward the shop’s performance.

This event would be held for seven consecutive days until the system indicated that the Phase Two Task was complete.

Ten pairs of Bonded partners didn’t seem like many, but in reality, it wasn’t that easy to achieve.

As soon as the first day ended, Chen Liuxiang led two humans out for a date.

Gu Huaiwei sat in the shop, propping her head up with one hand as she watched through the window. Seeing Chen Liuxiang holding a human in each hand, she suddenly understood He Jiarui’s frustration.
