Chapter 179

Lin She stopped in his tracks and looked back coldly. “To rectify my mistake.”

He intended to eliminate that Half-finished Product, leaving no loose ends.

He didn’t return until evening, dragging a snakeskin bag with its opening stained with dried blood.

His footsteps were barely audible in the silent corridor. Gu Huaiwei, catching the scent of his unique swampy dampness, placed her book face-down on the sofa and stood up.

The rough snakeskin bag scraped against the floor as Lin She walked gloomily into the room. The bag in his hand was heavy and reeked of rot; Gu Huaiwei could faintly discern the silhouette of a skull through the material.

“It has been dealt with.”

His voice was flat, as if he were reporting a minor detail of his daily routine.

Gu Huaiwei crouched down and peeled back the opening of the bag. Immediately, a pungent stench of blood hit her.

Inside were mangled remains-a gory, nauseating mess of red and green.

Her lips quirked slightly as she casually closed the bag.

“Why did you bring it back?” She wrinkled her nose, the heavy stench making her head throb. “Next time, just throw this sort of thing directly into the sea.”

Lin She, however, replied with total seriousness, “So you can inspect the results of my work.”

Accepting the task, completing the task, and reporting the results-Lin She followed every step of the process without fail.

He stood where he was, his dark green eyes shimmering with a faint glint. He waited quietly with a subtle sense of anticipation, seemingly seeking her approval.

“Good job,” Gu Huaiwei tried to praise him. As expected, Lin She looked away.

That night, Gu Huaiwei and Lin She knocked out the Security Personnel and escaped from the Dawn Alliance. Operating a Submarine was a technical skill, and Gu Huaiwei simply couldn’t master it just by listening to a few instructions on the spot.

Halfway through, Gu Huaiwei kidnapped Sister Yu. Holding a knife to Sister Yu’s throat, she forced her to call for the commander of the Nuclear Submarine. She bundled them both up and fled the area aboard the stolen Nuclear Submarine.

That tiny black flying insect also secretly flew into the Nuclear Submarine.

“And to think I trusted you so much! How could you do such a thing?” The admiration that had once been in Sister Yu’s eyes had completely vanished, replaced by the fury of betrayal.

“Don’t get so worked up. Once this Submarine surfaces, I’ll give it back to you.” Gu Huaiwei sat with her back against the wall, holding a nautical chart.

When Sister Yu had mistaken Gu Huaiwei for Gu Changge, her attitude had been exceptionally friendly. Even while keeping her under house arrest, she had arranged a relatively nice room for her.

Now that Gu Huaiwei had held a knife to her throat and dropped her disguise, Sister Yu had shed her friendly demeanor and become fierce.

She spent the entire journey cursing and swearing.

“You’ve been rambling the whole way. Aren’t you thirsty?” Gu Huaiwei handed Sister Yu a bottle of Magnetic Value beverage.

Sister Yu turned her head away, spitting through her thick lips. “I don’t need these Alien things!”

Gu Huaiwei inserted a straw and began drinking it herself.

Sister Yu watched Gu Huaiwei sit there with such nonchalance, showing no guilt whatsoever as she drank a Magnetic Beverage-a symbol of compromise with the Aliens. It broke her heart.

“At first, Lu Beijiu told me that if a person loses their memory, they become a complete stranger. I didn’t believe him.

“I thought that even if you forgot the past, certain things in your bones wouldn’t change.

“I thought you would be the same as before, standing on our side unconditionally… but you pointed a knife at me. You’ve disappointed me so much…”

Gu Huaiwei cast a cold glance at Sister Yu. “Before you recruit members, you should really do a background check.”
“I run a Matchmaking Agency, host variety shows, and have built a thriving business with the Aliens. Under these circumstances, how could I possibly be on the same side as you?”

“But your image appeared in the mirror. It was left behind by your past self…”

Gu Huaiwei interrupted her. “You rely far too much on that Baptism Ritual.”

“I won’t let you disparage the Gu Changge of the past!” Sister Yu firmly defended her faith, the flesh on her face bunching up into a grimace. “You’ve lost your memory, so you aren’t her! You side with the Aliens, which makes you our enemy!”

“If you say so.”

Sister Yu questioned Gu Huaiwei relentlessly throughout the journey.

Gu Huaiwei, however, remained in high spirits, chatting back with ease.

No matter what Sister Yu said, Gu Huaiwei didn’t get angry. Not only that, she even found the mood to tease Sister Yu from time to time.

Sister Yu’s harsh words didn’t even graze her heart.

From Sister Yu’s ramblings, she pieced together the traces her sister had left behind in this world.

The tangible help Sister Changge had provided to the Dawn Alliance.

The expectations she had for Sister Yu.

Gu Huaiwei could feel it all.

As the Submarine surfaced, Gu Huaiwei tossed Sister Yu a dull, notched knife, letting her slowly saw through the thick hemp ropes binding her.

“I don’t think we’ll be seeing each other again.” Gu Huaiwei lightly tapped Sister Yu’s head with the hilt of the knife. “Even though you’ve been bad-mouthing me the whole way, I still want to say good luck. Go ahead and take this planet back from the Aliens!”

“Hmph!” Sister Yu’s face turned the color of pig liver. “If you actually meant that, you should have become our partner instead of stealing our submarine to run away!”

“I’m not running away. I just have something more important to do than staying with the Dawn Alliance.” Gu Huaiwei stood up, one hand on her hip, her eyes full of mirth behind her lenses. “You want to keep the light you’re so obsessed with, and I have my own light to pursue.”

Gu Huaiwei and Lin She departed.

Sister Yu gripped the notched knife and began sawing at the ropes.

That girl with the face so similar to Gu Changge and the same name-was she really the Gu Changge of those years come back to them?

She didn’t know.

The Baptism Ritual hadn’t given her an answer.

She felt a sense of loss.

Was it true that she shouldn’t rely so heavily on the Baptism Ritual?

Sister Yu sighed. The entire Dawn Alliance was still too dependent on Gu Changge. Even though Sister Changge had been missing for so long, the Alliance was still clinging to the beautiful dream of her return.

Things couldn’t go on like this!

Sister Yu decided that once she returned to the Dawn Alliance this time, she would unite with the other leaders to change the status quo.

At that moment, a small black flying insect fluttered its wings and landed on Sister Yu’s neck. It dug through the thick layers of fat and bit a tiny, bloody hole into her skin.

Sister Yu only felt a slight itch on her neck.

The tiny creature burrowed into her body.

In an instant, Sister Yu broke out in red rashes from head to toe.

“It itches… it itches so much…” Sister Yu desperately sawed through the ropes on her hands. She began to claw at her skin, leaving trail after trail of bloody gashes, but nothing could stop the piercing itch.

The commander, who had just been coordinating with Lin She to pilot the submarine, looked at Sister Yu’s face and cried out in horror, “Sister Yu, why is there a Worm moving in your eye?”

“Where?” Sister Yu pulled a compact mirror from her pocket.

She pried her eye open and saw a small black flying insect crawling around beneath her eyeball. It then split into three, crawling from her left eye to her right.

Sister Yu let out a blood-curdling scream as the mirror fell to the ground, shattering into pieces.
