Chapter 180

Gu Huaiwei had no idea what was happening inside the submarine.

Based on the time remaining before the Dimension jump, if they hurried, they would have enough time to return to the Oasis Matchmaking Agency.

This time, at least, they weren’t in such a frantic rush.

Gu Huaiwei was thinking about heading back to train the staff at the several Branch Stores and give some final instructions to ensure the Oasis Matchmaking Agency continued to operate smoothly.

However, as they boarded the small fishing boat, a sudden change occurred. The wind and waves on the sea intensified abruptly, and a howling gale capsized the entire vessel.

Gu Huaiwei was thrown into the bone-chilling seawater. A cold shiver climbed up her spine, and at the same time, a familiar, rancid stench filled her nostrils.

It was the scent of a Fallen Operator.

She had cut off over a dozen of its heads; how was it not dead yet?

The seawater hadn’t been black originally; it was now dark because it was teeming with Black Flying Insects, surging in wave after wave.

Gu Huaiwei quickly adjusted her breathing and managed to keep her head above the surface. She tore damp strips of cloth from her sleeves and stuffed them into her ears, clamped her lips shut, and tightly covered her nostrils to prevent those Black Flying Insects from burrowing into her body.

She knew how to swim and could barely manage to stay afloat.

Cold and darkness intertwined.

A person falling into the ocean was like a negligible grain of sand.

In this situation, the primary concern wasn’t drowning, but dying of hypothermia.

Gu Huaiwei looked up and saw Sister Yu sitting cross-legged in an eerie fashion atop the churning black waves.

The seawater had been dyed the color of thick ink by countless tiny Black Flying Insects.

The worm tide surged and rolled, making the air feel suffocating.

She tried to swim toward a piece of broken wood, but those worms blocked her path.

The worm tide formed a whirlpool, attempting to push Gu Huaiwei toward Sister Yu.

Fortunately, Gu Huaiwei was quite strong. She swam desperately in the opposite direction, reaching a stalemate with the worms.

At that moment, a thick, black, rope-like object wrapped around Gu Huaiwei’s waist, pulling her back from the converging worm tide.

Gu Huaiwei was dragged to Lin She’s side.

The water around Lin She was clear, free of those strange little worms.

“Miss Gu, are you alright?”

“I’m fine.”

Gu Huaiwei shook the damned worms off her head and then reached down to feel the object wrapped around her waist.

Just as she was about to touch it, the force around her waist vanished instantly.

Lin She grabbed her wrist, his fingers slick and cold. He explained in a flat tone, “It was just a life rope.”

There was no such thing as a life rope that thick and flexible.

Gu Huaiwei didn’t quite believe him.

However, belief aside, she had to solve the immediate problem first.

“The person sitting on the waves… that’s not Sister Yu anymore, is it?”

Lin She’s expression was somewhat grim. He floated in the seawater, his body temperature even colder than the ocean itself.

Although his face didn’t show much emotion, Gu Huaiwei could keenly sense that his mood was at an absolute low.

“It’s that Half-finished Product.”

The Half-finished Product that Lin She had tried to clean up twice without success.

This was practically a massive rejection of his professional competence.

The seawater was bone-chillingly cold, but sensing Lin She’s mood, Gu Huaiwei curled her lips into a slightly mischievous smile and sighed. “Ah, if only I had brought He Xueyi on this trip…”

Before she could finish, Lin She’s dark green pupils suddenly contracted. He turned his head, a hint of irritation leaking through his calm facade. “I don’t need him. I will handle this.”

“But you’ve already failed twice. Do you really not need me to call for reinforcements?” Gu Huaiwei found a floating plank to lean on, preparing to watch an angry Lin She show off his skills.
“No need.”

Lin She’s dark figure darted out like a water snake.

The wind and waves on the sea suddenly became violent. It was as if there were giant tentacles beneath the surface, churning the water and turning it into massive walls of surging waves.

The depths of the ocean were roaring.

Gu Huaiwei had said those words on purpose earlier. She wanted Lin She to show his true capabilities and completely kill off that clingy Half-finished Product.

However, the timing for the Dimension jump had unexpectedly moved forward.

Gu Huaiwei saw her entire body being enveloped in white light. Then, the black seawater and the tide of Worms were swallowed by the white light before her eyes. Countless Worms tried to latch onto Gu Huaiwei, but they were scorched the moment they touched the white light.

Yet, the Worms seemed unafraid of death, desperately flying toward Gu Huaiwei.

They covered the sky and the earth.

Finally, the white light completely swallowed Gu Huaiwei.

[Congratulations on completing the Five-Star management task for the Oasis Matchmaking Agency.]

[You have completed the Dimension jump and successfully entered the next Dimension.]

[The Oasis Matchmaking Agency is currently in a profitable state. This year’s 20% Magnetic Value share of the earnings has been deposited into your Paradise Card. Please check it.]

A dead city.

Even during the day, the city was shrouded in mist. The sun in the sky was as weak as a flickering candle, looking as if a gust of wind could blow it out.

Inside the city, all facilities were operating normally. Traffic lights flashed at intersections, and at the roadside shops, stalls selling noodles and fried skewers were still steaming.

But strangely, there wasn’t a single living person in this city.

The Oasis Sanatorium was located in a prime area of the city’s main district. From the outside, it looked like an old gray brick building. The walls were covered with withered vines, and most of the window panes were shattered, the empty frames resembling the dried-up eye sockets of a corpse.

The rust-spotted iron gates creaked. The small path leading to the main entrance of the Oasis Sanatorium was covered in slippery moss. Occasionally, a gust of wind would swirl the rotting fallen leaves on the ground, making a rustling sound that resembled someone whispering.

A small black flying Worm slowly and leisurely landed at the main gate of the Oasis Sanatorium.

The little flying Worm’s wings were damaged, and it was on the verge of death.

It stayed there for a long time, as if it had already died.

It wasn’t until the wind blew that it fluttered its wings and took flight again.

Gu Huaiwei was currently giving a lecture at the main gate.

Before her departure, she had already arranged the timing for the Dimension jump.

At that time, Bai Miemie had stood at attention and given her word, guaranteeing that the timing would be perfect down to the minute.

In the end, she had failed completely.

Bai Miemie held the gift box sent by He Jiarui, hanging her small head guiltily, not daring to say a word.

He Xueyi narrowed his golden eyes. He saw the wound on Lin She’s wrist and curled his lips in a slightly pleased smile. Then, he put on the facade of a good person to explain on Bai Miemie’s behalf.

“Shop Manager Miss, please don’t blame Miemie anymore.

Over the past few days, Miemie sent messages to you, but you didn’t reply. Miemie was worried about your safety, so she moved the Dimension jump forward.”

The lack of replies was because there was no signal at the bottom of the sea.

During these past few days, He Xueyi had intentionally told Bai Miemie that Lin She wanted to keep Gu Huaiwei all to himself and create opportunities to be alone with her, triggering a sense of crisis in Bai Miemie.

Unable to hold back, Bai Miemie had unlocked the final Oasis Matchmaking Agency ahead of schedule.

Gu Huaiwei said crossly, “I entrusted this task to the two of you, and neither of you is reliable.”

Bai Miemie pursed her lips aggrievedly, and then let out a loud “wah” as she started to cry.

It was over. She felt that Sister Gu was going to hate her now.

Sister Gu would never come to her house as a guest now.
