I Share the Same Face with a Monster - Chapter 17
Chapter 49
Su Man later worked with me on a film.
A dual-female-lead film.
The script was about two actresses shaped by the camera, only to turn around and bite back at it.
After Zhou Yan finished reading the script, his review was very brief.
“Noisy.”
I said, “Did you even understand it?”
“I did.”
“What part was noisy?”
“There are too many men in it.”
When Su Man heard that, she laughed so hard her makeup smudged.
Sister Lin actually thought he had a point.
Before filming began, the director asked if I had any taboos.
I said, “No extended close-ups shoved right in my face.”
The director froze.
“With a face like yours, it would be a shame not to shoot it.”
I looked at him.
The director quickly added, “Of course, we’ll listen to the actor.”
Beside me, Zhou Yan said flatly, “Smart.”
For some reason, the director shuddered.
Chapter 50
Zhou Yan began learning how to be human.
It was harder than I had imagined.
He would interpret “you’ve gained weight” as an objective statement.
He would take “let’s meet up next time” to mean there really would be a next time.
And when fans called me their wife, he would seriously ask me if I needed to call the police.
I said, “No.”
He was silent for a long time.
“Then am I allowed to be angry?”
“Yes.”
“What can I do?”
“Nothing.”
He didn’t look very satisfied.
But he still nodded.
One time, I was shooting night scenes until the early hours of the morning.
He sat in the nanny van waiting for me.
When I got in, I found him holding a small mirror.
I immediately went on alert.
“What are you doing?”
He handed me the mirror.
“Practicing.”
“Practicing what?”
“Seeing myself without borrowing your face.”
Chapter 51
In that little mirror, there was still only blankness.
But the blankness no longer looked like a hole.
It was more like a sheet of paper that hadn’t been finished yet.
I asked, “Do you want a face?”
Zhou Yan said, “Yes.”
His answer was very honest.
I nodded.
“What kind do you want?”
“I don’t know.”
“It can’t be someone else’s.”
“Mm.”
“Mine won’t do either.”
He paused.
“Mm.”
I looked at him.
“Feeling wronged?”
“A little.”
That answer made me laugh.
Zhou Yan turned toward me.
“You laughed.”
“Is that not allowed?”
“It is.”
He put the mirror away.
“I like that.”
For some reason, the tips of my ears warmed a little.
“Don’t go liking things at random.”
He said, “I’m controlling it.”
