Marry the NPC with Money, Wife Comes Knocking - Chapter 100
Chapter 100
After finishing dinner, the two of them went for a walk to help their digestion.
The weather had turned a bit chilly today. Hua Suihe wore an off-white coat over her shoulders. Since Ye Susheng was indifferent to heat or cold, Hua Suihe had insisted she wear a red cardigan.
Ye Susheng was in the habit of clinging to Hua Suihe’s arm as they walked side by side. But even though they were practically joined at the hip, the humans here couldn’t see Ye Susheng’s presence; they could only see the solitary figure of Hua Suihe walking alone.
Hua Suihe was beautiful and currently trending online, so there were always curious glances being cast her way. Some people were even secretly holding up their phones to snap photos of her.
Ye Susheng felt those gazes. Feeling helpless against these people in this world, a sense of frustration made her start to sulk.
“Hua Hua, they’re secretly taking pictures of you.” The thought of those people having photos of Hua Hua on their phones made her want to smash all those devices-and then throw the owners into a dungeon to be killed while she was at it.
Hua Suihe caught the unhappiness in her tone but didn’t call her out on it. Instead, she teased her on purpose. “Oh? I guess I’m famous now.”
Ye Susheng pursed her lips, her face tense, and her pace slowed down. Hua Suihe felt the resistance as she tried to walk forward, only to realize that Ye Susheng, who was clutching her hand, had come to a complete stop.
“What’s wrong? Aren’t we walking?”
“I don’t like them taking pictures of you,” Ye Susheng muttered under her breath. Her eyes couldn’t help but redden. The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. She let go of Hua Suihe’s arm and walked over to one of the girls who was pointing a phone at Hua Suihe to throw a small tantrum.
“Don’t you have a wife of your own? Why are you taking pictures of mine!”
The girl remained indifferent because she couldn’t sense Ye Susheng’s presence at all.
But because of this, Ye Susheng’s red pupils began to bleed with a crimson hue. Her blood-colored eyes seemed to carry a curse; she was going to use the Horror System to mark this person as a player.
Before her consciousness could drift away, a force pulled at her hand. A finger brushed against her palm, and Hua Hua’s scent washed over her. Ye Susheng’s eyes cleared slightly as the crimson tint faded from her red pupils.
Hua Hua stood beside Ye Susheng and asked the girl in front of them, “Excuse me, were you just taking a photo of me?”
Caught in the act, the girl felt a bit guilty. She was about to deny it when she heard Hua Suihe continue.
“I’m sorry, but I don’t like people taking my picture, and my Ye Susheng doesn’t like it either.”
“If you took any, I hope you can delete them. My wife is a bit upset, so I hope you understand. I need to go comfort her.”
Ye Susheng was stunned. She stared blankly at Hua Suihe, and then, a moment later, the corners of her mouth curled up into a smile she couldn’t suppress no matter how hard she tried.
Hua Hua loves her so much~
The girl’s face turned pale as she looked around nervously. Even though she couldn’t see anything, since Hua Suihe said Ye Susheng was right there, it had to be true.
“I’ll delete them, I’ll delete them! I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you…” The girl kept apologizing as she deleted every photo she had taken from her phone and then cleared her trash bin.
Hua Suihe glanced at it and said with a smile, “Thank you. I’ll be going now.”
Seeing her turn to leave, the girl called out in a hurry, “Wait!”
Hua Suihe looked back, a hint of confusion in her eyes.
Knowing Ye Susheng was there, the girl tried her best to overcome her fear. Trembling but determined, she asked, “You were on that debut show and even won the championship. Are you planning to pursue a career in the entertainment industry?”
If she was going to be in show business, what celebrity didn’t have to face cameras? She was the one secretly taking photos today, but there were many others doing the same nearby. For an artist, this was perfectly normal.
Stopping one person today wouldn’t stop the massive crowds that would point cameras at Hua Suihe in the future. It was unavoidable.
“Thank you for your concern, but I’m not considering that at the moment.”
After answering the question, Hua Suihe gave a slight nod and continued walking along the riverbank, leading Ye Susheng by the hand.
Left behind, the girl stared blankly at the photo of Hua Suihe on her phone’s lock screen. Meeting her idol in person and even getting to speak with her was a dream come true, but hearing her idol say she had no intention of entering the entertainment industry meant her journey as a fan had come to an abrupt end.
Besides, there was that God of Slaughter standing guard by her side. The more the girl thought about it, the sadder she became.
Having been successfully placated, Ye Susheng was in a much better mood, her voice light and cheerful. “Hua Hua, Hua Hua, did you really mean it when you said you don’t want to be an entertainer? Don’t you want to be a big star?”
Hua Suihe teased, “If I became a big star, wouldn’t a certain someone get angry?”
“Then… then we just won’t let them take pictures…” Ye Susheng’s voice trailed off, lacking confidence because she knew that was impossible.
It was true that Ye Susheng hated how many people showed such fanatical love for Hua Hua in their daily lives. It was fine behind a screen, but when it spilled over into real life, she got jealous.
But that was the life of an entertainer. They had to face all sorts of cameras even in their private lives, forced to wrap themselves in layers of clothes and act like they were doing something shady just to avoid being caught on film.
Ye Susheng didn’t want that for Hua Suihe. Hua Hua was so beautiful; she should be able to walk around openly and gracefully every time she went out, not bundled up like a zongzi.
Furthermore, in the human world, Ye Susheng couldn’t help Hua Hua block those malicious lenses, which made her stew in her own frustration.
Hua Suihe rubbed her head. “Alright, I really don’t want to be some big star. Being a minor internet celebrity is quite enough for me.”
“Really?”
“Of course it’s true. I’ve had plenty of opportunities like that before, and I turned them all down.”
Back in her school days, many scouts had taken notice of her looks and tried to recruit her into the entertainment industry, but she had absolutely no interest.
She never liked living under the spotlight to begin with, which was why she chose game streaming. Even after her popularity soared, she rarely showed her face on camera.
Even as a mere game streamer, her chat was full of anti-fans. Their tireless daily attacks were more persistent than some of her actual fans, and their words were increasingly vicious.
The verbal abuse a real celebrity had to face wouldn’t be any less than what she dealt with.
As a seasoned veteran streamer, she had long since learned how to manage her mindset.
Fortunately, her stream was so popular that the comments flew by too fast to read. Whenever someone tried to start drama, her loyal fans would drown it out with a flood of “hahaha x 999+.”
She generally only looked at the highlighted donations, as those were the only ones she could see clearly. Because of this, Gu Gu often sent highlighted messages teasing her for being a money-grubber.
That wasn’t exactly wrong.
Her phone rang. Ye Susheng helped her pull it out of her pocket and handed it over, stealing a glance at the caller ID. “Hua Hua, your phone is ringing.”
Hua Suihe looked at the incoming call from Yi Shuang and answered with a peculiar expression. “Hello, Yi Shuang?”
“It’s me.”
Hua Suihe clicked her tongue slightly. “This is rare. Is something up?”
Although Yi Shuang was one of her few friends, they almost never chatted. This was actually the first time they had spoken on the phone.
“Is Ye Susheng with you?”
Hua Suihe gave Ye Susheng an odd look. “She is. Why?”
Yi Shuang was silent for a long moment. “Okay, I see.”
“I saw someone over here who seemed a bit off, so I called to check with you.”
“Huh?!”
Hua Suihe wanted to say more, but the call was disconnected. When she tried to call back, the line was busy; she couldn’t get through.
Ye Susheng had been leaning in close, so she naturally heard what Yi Shuang said. “Did she say… there’s another me?”
