Chapter 102

Hua Hua…

Ye Susheng’s blood-red pupils shifted sluggishly. As if waking from a dream, she dragged her body-still radiating lingering murderous intent-and teleported several times to rush home.

She had to go home and find Hua Hua.

Thriller had used data replication to create new ‘Ye Sushengs.’ Although their strength couldn’t be perfectly replicated, their appearance and habits were identical to hers; they even possessed her memories.

In the future, those fakes would surely try to steal Hua Hua from her. Like a plague of locusts, they could never be fully exterminated.

Hua Hua… She couldn’t let Hua Hua see a single one of those imposters. Hua Hua could only love her. Only her.

“Hua Hua, Hua Hua…”

In the darkness, Ye Susheng pushed open the bedroom door. She stood at the entrance, covered in filth like a stray cat, too preoccupied with the wife on the bed to care whether she was clean or not.

She walked quickly to the bedside. Looking at the small mound under the duvet, she suddenly felt something was wrong. She yanked the covers back; as expected, no one was lying there.

The bedroom lights suddenly flickered on. The room was empty. Ye Susheng searched the bathroom, the study, and the kitchen, but could find no one. Panic completely took hold of her. “Hua Hua? Hua Hua, where are you?”

The black mist began to seep out uncontrollably, darting around frantically as it searched the house for Hua Suihe’s scent.

Hua Hua was gone.

She pulled out her phone to call Hua Suihe, but there was only a busy signal. The call wouldn’t go through.

Ye Susheng’s body flickered with static, and a moment later, she vanished from the spot.

It was Thriller. It had to be Thriller’s doing!

Entering the Thriller consciousness space, Ye Susheng stood in the middle of a vast void. Her black mist expanded and spread wildly through the emptiness. “Come out! Get out here! Give Hua Hua back to me! Give her back!”

The entire space lit up with flashes of lightning, illuminating Ye Susheng’s hideous expression. Her body had already begun the process of Anomalization due to her extreme emotional instability. Her black dress was stained with dried blood, her face was covered in intricate red markings, and her bleeding red eyes stared directly into the void.

“Look at yourself,” came the voice of the Horror System, cold and devoid of any emotional fluctuation.

Ye Susheng pointed her scythe directly at the void, her voice shrill and piercing. “Give her back to me!”

“Why do you always oppose me? I am the one who created you…”

Ye Susheng couldn’t hear a single word. Without Hua Suihe in her sight, she was violent and restless. “Give her back, or I’ll slaughter every last one of those freaks you created until your rules are nothing but dust!”

The Thriller Consciousness fell silent for a moment. It watched as the Void Space was gradually torn apart by the black mist. If this continued, it could cause malfunctions in multiple dungeons, making repairs incredibly difficult.

If Thriller had a physical body, it would be grinding its teeth in rage. Unfortunately, it was merely a void entity existing as a consciousness. Facing the uncontrollable Ye Susheng, it couldn’t even manage a threat.

Finally, it threw a portal in front of her, letting her leave.

How annoying. Why were the replicated Ye Sushengs so useless?

As soon as Ye Susheng stepped through the portal and left the Void Space, countless overlapping voices echoed in the darkness: “Hua Hua, Hua Hua… Hua Hua is mine… Hua Hua…”

Hearing the chorus of her name only made it more irritating.

Ye Susheng stepped out of the portal and returned to the Great Desert where she had been moments before. Because she had left, the full moon in the sky had returned to its normal color. But as Ye Susheng walked back, carrying a murderous intent a hundred times heavier than before, the bloody hue began to congeal upon the moon once more.

As soon as she returned, Ye Susheng began releasing her black mist to search for Hua Suihe’s scent. Still in her state of Anomalization, she called out Hua Suihe’s name, sounding utterly soul-crushed. “Hua Hua, Hua Hua…”
Panic-stricken voices carried for miles across the vast, empty desert.

Players who had finally managed to stop and rest looked up, groaning in misery as they saw Ye Susheng flying over their heads.

“God’s sake, why is that God of Slaughter back again!”

One person simply lay down on the spot and buried themselves in the yellow sand. If they lived, they lived; if not, they’d already dug their own grave.

Ye Susheng didn’t spare a single glance for those below. Her mind was entirely consumed with finding Hua Suihe. She forced herself to stay calm, but she couldn’t; her voice trembled with a sob every time she called out Hua Suihe’s name.

She had left a trace of black mist on Hua Hua. If Hua Hua encountered danger, the black mist would protect her, and only then could Ye Susheng sense her location.

But Ye Susheng didn’t want to find Hua Suihe that way, because that would mean Hua Hua was in danger.

[Ah Ye? The stream is live? Why so sudden?]

[Am I hallucinating? Didn’t the last dungeon just end yesterday?]

[I thought it’d be forever before we saw her again. I didn’t expect Hua Hua to still love us this much. See you again, hehe.]

[Stop ‘hehe’-ing and look at where my Hua is. Why did she run into the desert in the middle of the night? Isn’t our Zone B a prosperous metropolis?]

[Where’s Ye Susheng? Where’s Ye Susheng?]

Indeed, Hua Suihe had been tossing and turning in bed, unable to sleep. She had wanted to play on her phone for a bit while waiting for Ye Susheng to return. However, just as she picked up her phone to check the time, she suddenly found herself lying in a pile of yellow sand.

If she hadn’t reacted quickly and sat up, she would have ended up with a mouthful of grit.

As she looked around in a daze, the voice of the Horror System rang out in her mind.

[Player Hua Suihe, as you did not actively accept a quest, the System has automatically assigned you to this large-scale dungeon: “Escape the Desert.” There is no time limit. Successfully exiting the Great Desert will count as clearing the dungeon. Players, please complete your tasks diligently. We wish you a pleasant experience.]

Hua Suihe rolled her eyes. Pleasant, my foot. She had been sleeping soundly in a big, soft bed with the air conditioning on, only to be dumped into the yellow sands in the blink of an eye. Was that a tornado blocking the moonlight in the distance? Which zone was this dump even in?

She didn’t know if her wife, Ye Zi, had made it home yet. If she couldn’t find her, she’d be worried sick.

Hua Suihe sighed repeatedly, standing up to brush the sand off her pajamas.

This was just great. She didn’t have Ye Zi’s ability to refresh her outfit, and she was still wearing a pajama set with short sleeves and shorts. Standing up against the wind now, she realized the cold was bone-chilling.

[The Chronicles of Hua Hua’s Misfortunes.]

[So pitiful. We can’t let Hua Hua freeze to death, can we?]

[Hua Hua, there’s a campfire over there with people. Let’s go over and warm up?]

Hua Suihe noticed it too. Shivering with cold, she didn’t have much time to overthink. She stepped carefully toward the fire, her movements light so as not to startle the two people sitting there.

As she drew closer, she saw they were two girls. The firelight reflecting on their faces allowed her to see their features clearly-they looked familiar.

Hua Suihe felt a wave of relief and quickened her pace toward them.

Yi Shuang sensed someone approaching immediately. Her hand instinctively tightened around her dagger, and her sharp gaze flickered with visible shock when she saw Hua Suihe.

Fang Ge was the first to greet her. “Hua Suihe? You’re here too?”

“Oh my god, why are you wearing so little? Didn’t you scavenge any cold-weather supplies?”

Fang Ge rummaged through her backpack and pulled out a dusty coat. She shook off the dust sheepishly before handing it over. “Here’s a coat. It’ll have to do for now. Don’t let yourself freeze.”
