Marry the NPC with Money, Wife Comes Knocking - Chapter 162
Chapter 162
Ye-Hua’s Wedding
After a month of frantic preparations, the long-awaited wedding was finally about to arrive.
Day after day, Ye Susheng inspected the wedding dress hanging on the mannequin, terrified that something might go wrong. At night, she went over the wedding schedule again and again, determined to make everything perfect.
Tomorrow was the big day. Ye Susheng sat cross-legged on the bed, clutching her phone as she memorized her vows.
Seeing how anxious she was, Hua Suihe sat down beside her and slipped the phone out of her hand. “You’ve already recited them ten times today, Ye Zi’s wife. They sound great to me.”
Only after finishing the last line did Ye Susheng whimper softly and wrap her arms around Hua Suihe’s waist. “Hua Hua, I feel like the vows aren’t rigorous enough, so whenever I think of something new, I have to add it in.”
Vows were basically just a formality. The wedding planning company had drafted them and sent them over, and most couples generally said the same few lines.
Hua Suihe lifted the phone and glanced over the text. When she saw the word count in the corner-two thousand words-her eyes flew wide open. “You added all of this?!”
Ye Susheng rested her head on Hua Suihe’s shoulder, her arms looped behind her as her fingers twisted together. In a muffled voice, she asked, “Is it too little?”
“This is still too little? It’s practically a speech, my goodness…” Compared with Hua Suihe’s own vows, though she’d polished hers a little too, hers were only a few hundred words.
Ye Susheng snatched the phone back, tossed it behind herself, and continued clinging to her. “I just want to say all of this to Hua Hua.”
Seeing that she had no intention of giving up on her idea, Hua Suihe mischievously ruffled her hair into a mess. “It’s the thought that counts. Besides, when the time comes, will you really have the mental space to give a speech during the vows?”
Ye Susheng straightened at once, eager to refute her. “Of course I will. When it comes to Hua Hua, I’m always very patient!”
Hua Suihe studied her with a meaningful look, gave two soft hums, then suddenly caught her off guard and pounced, pinning her down on the bed. “I’d like to see how many complete sentences my little crybaby can get through when the time comes.”
Unconvinced, Ye Susheng flipped them over and pinned her beneath her instead. “Hua Hua doesn’t believe me. I’m not going to cry.”
The two of them fooled around for a while. Just as they were about to take off their pajamas, Ye Susheng grabbed the blanket and wrapped Hua Suihe up in it, leaving only her head exposed.
Meeting Hua Suihe’s puzzled gaze, Ye Susheng turned her head and switched off the light, then hugged Hua Hua through the blanket.
“Not now. Hua Hua’s skin is sensitive. I’ll bully Hua Hua after the wedding is over.” Ye Susheng remembered the style of the wedding dress very clearly. If she wasn’t careful and left marks somewhere obvious on Hua Hua, Hua Hua might not be happy with her when the time came.
Wrapped in the blanket, Hua Suihe couldn’t stretch her arms or legs, and she wriggled unhappily a few times. “I can’t sleep comfortably like this. Let me go.”
In the darkness, Ye Susheng dawdled for a moment before releasing the blanket around Hua Hua.
Hua Suihe kicked the blanket away, then wrapped Ye Susheng up in it instead. The two of them naturally pressed close together.
The wedding was tomorrow. Tonight, they were both too keyed up to feel the slightest bit sleepy.
Hua Suihe tossed and turned in her arms. After a long while, she still couldn’t fall asleep. Giving up, she opened her eyes, only to find Ye Susheng’s eyes open too.
“Hua Hua, can’t sleep?”
Hua Suihe hummed in reply, then felt around under the covers for her hand. Once she found it, she guided it to herself.
Hua Suihe closed her eyes and buried her face against Ye Susheng’s chest, whispering, “No biting me, no using your mouth. Only your hands.”
“Hua Hua…” Hua Hua definitely wasn’t doing this out of consideration for her. She wanted it too.
A shallow exchange could only offer a little comfort; it was destined to be a bout of lovemaking that left them less than fully satisfied.
Fortunately, both of them knew their limits, and Hua Suihe managed to fall asleep in the end.
Ye Susheng got up to prepare breakfast. After they ate, they would have to hurry to the makeup venue for their styling.
This time, the makeup and styling were even more elaborate and time-consuming than when they had taken their wedding photos. It took a full four hours before everything was just barely finished.
They had only invited four guests to this wedding: Xia Moyi, Yi Shuang, Fang Ge, and one of Fang Ge’s friends, Bai Yanshan.
It was probably the first time the wedding company had ever encountered a wedding with so few guests. On top of that, neither bride had parents or relatives present, so even with all four girls acting as bridesmaids, many of the procedures were simplified.
Ye Susheng had deliberately studied human wedding customs and learned that the various rituals had special meanings, blessings like staying united forever and the like, so she cared about them very much.
For example, during the bridal pickup, Ye Susheng refused to omit the door-blocking segment. After Hua Hua finished her makeup, she insisted on bringing her back home first and then having the bridesmaids guard the door.
Although the bridesmaids didn’t dare make things difficult for her, after she answered their questions and handed out blessing red envelopes, she felt much more at ease.
Hua Suihe sat on the edge of the bed, her hands resting on her skirt. Under the lights, her white wedding gown shone like dazzling diamonds, her skin luminous and fair. She was breathtakingly beautiful.
Her lashes were lowered, and it seemed she had opened a livestream view. At the moment, she was chatting with the fans in the livestream room.
The instant Ye Susheng entered, Hua Suihe looked up at her, casting the fans in the livestream room aside. Her heart and eyes held only the person before her as she rose to her feet.
In private, they had rehearsed today’s scene many times, but when they truly faced it, nervousness and emotion were still inevitable.
Ye Susheng was also wearing a wedding dress. The skirt of her red gown was wide and long, and the black mist held it up invisibly from behind, making the dress look light and airy.
She walked forward, silently repeating to herself that she had to pick Hua Hua up and carry her downstairs to the wedding car.
That was what she intended to do. But just as she was about to scoop Hua Hua up by the waist, Hua Hua took both her hands and stopped her.
Ye Susheng could feel her own hands trembling. The Hua Hua before her eyes was also blurred by a layer of misty tears. She didn’t dare say much, knowing she cried easily and not wanting to ruin her makeup at a time like this.
“Hua Hua, I’ll carry you.”
Hua Suihe lifted her hand and kissed the back of it. “No carrying. We’ll walk down together.”
“Ye Zi’s wife is wearing a very beautiful wedding dress too. I want to walk beside Ye Zi, hand in hand.”
Ye Susheng had always been obedient. She used Black Cotton to lift the trailing skirt behind Hua Hua, then walked with her to the wedding car and sat with her in the same one.
The four bridesmaids followed close behind, taking two cars. The rest of the wedding convoy had more than a dozen cars, and together they drove grandly toward the seaside.
This time, the wedding venue was on an open-air lawn. It was nearly evening now, and the sunset was gradually taking shape. A soft glow spread over the grass, making it look especially gentle. A light breeze stirred the gauze archway entwined with flowering vines. A white carpet was laid across the ground, flowers of every color filled the surroundings, and balloons swayed in the wind.
At the end of the carpet stood a circular glass platform. On it was a glowing crescent moon adorned with little stars, dreamy as an elven dwelling.
The wedding officiant stood beside the glass platform. Ye Susheng and Hua Suihe held hands and walked from the archway along the carpet, all the way to the very center of the glass platform.
[It’s so quiet and empty. I wish I could appear at the venue in person and drink their wedding wine.]
[I want to drink wedding wine too +1, but isn’t this already really romantic?]
[No tedious receiving line or toasting rounds. Just bathing in the sunset with the person they love and making their vows in a romantic sea of flowers. The ceremony is simple without losing any solemnity, and when they make their vows, the only person they can see out of the corner of their eye is each other. Isn’t that the most fitting thing for them?]
[I heard Ye Susheng memorized a two-thousand-word vow. I want to see how many lines she can actually get out.]
[She’s already sobbing. Can she really talk?]
