My Snake - Chapter 4
Chapter 4
I sat in the car, crying my eyes out.
The driver, a middle-aged uncle, was a bit bewildered.
He looked up and met my eyes through the rearview mirror.
“Little lady, what are you crying for?
“If that chocolate tastes bad, just don’t eat it. Throw it away. Don’t force yourself to choke it down.”
I kept chewing, my voice muffled and thick with emotion.
“No, Uncle. It’s because this chocolate is so delicious that I’m crying.”
The driver scratched his head.
“What?”
I explained, “Waaaah… because my boyfriend bought this for me. There’s no wrapper, so I don’t know where he got it or what brand it is. It’s so good, but there’s only one piece left. Just thinking about how I’ll never get to eat such delicious chocolate again makes me… makes me…”
I broke into loud, racking sobs.
The driver fell silent.
He handed me three brand-new packs of tissues and told me to pace myself.
He tried to comfort me, saying there would be more chocolate in the future, and more boyfriends too.
But I wasn’t listening.
I was just miserable.
By the time I’d gone through two and a half packs of tissues, I was starting to feel a bit tired.
I pulled out my phone, opened the camera, and took a selfie.
Goodness gracious.
How do I look so pretty even when I’m crying?
Snap.
I was exhausted. Crying had drained me, and I felt a bit sleepy.
I hugged a throw pillow, tilted my head, and fell asleep in a second.
I didn’t know how long I slept.
When I woke up, my neck was incredibly sore.
I twisted my head around.
I realized the driver was gone.
The car was parked on the side of a deserted highway.
All around us was unfamiliar forest.
Where was I?
I felt a prickle of fear, my heart racing wildly.
Right then, I suddenly felt something cold, thick, and soft wrap around my waist.
I looked down.
I jumped in fright.
A massive Snake Tail…!
Subconsciously, I tried to open the car door to make a run for it.
Unexpectedly, the Snake Tail suddenly tightened.
I was pulled into a cold embrace.
“Xia Yu.”
I swallowed hard and turned back in terror.
As I turned, I came face-to-face with Qin Zhi’s dangerous Golden Snake Eyes.
“Why did you run away when you’re pregnant? Is the child not mine? Hmm?”
He leaned down and took my earlobe into his mouth.
His voice carried a lethal edge.
“Tell me, who were you going to find?”
I looked into his eyes.
I was completely stunned.
“Qin… Qin Zhi.
“You… how are you a snake too…?”
