One Hundred Ways to Knock Down the Doctor - Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Zhao Chunian led me through the supermarket, picking up a mountain of groceries before settling me onto his sofa.
“Watch TV, scroll on your tablet, or play games-whatever you like,” he said.
Watching his back as he busied himself in the kitchen, I bounced up from the sofa.
“I should probably help you.”
Zhao Chunian pressed his hands against my shoulders and pushed me toward the door, but he stopped just as we reached it.
I should probably explain the layout of my dream guy’s kitchen. Although it was an open-concept design, it had a glass sliding door partition. As Zhao Chunian was ushering me out, he veered slightly off course.
Instead of heading through the opening, he nearly pinned me against the glass door.
So there I was, facing the glass, with my dream guy standing right behind me. One of his hands was on my shoulder, and the other was pressed against the glass.
It looked exactly like he was pulling me into a full embrace.
Then, Zhao Chunian leaned down slightly, his breath tickling my ear as he spoke.
“This is the first time I’m cooking for you. If you come in to help, I might get the wrong idea and think we’re already an old married couple.”
Who acts like an old married couple after knowing each other for a week?!
Why weren’t you this smooth with your words back at the hospital?!
I fled in embarrassment.
Zhao Chunian laughed while chopping vegetables.
I barely tasted a thing during that meal.
And by “barely tasted a thing,” I mean I was so distracted by his face that I polished off three whole bowls of rice.
By the time we finished, every plate on the table was empty. As Zhao Chunian saw me to the door, he made a pointed comment.
“Well, you’re certainly easy to provide for.”
Me: …
Is this guy ever going to let me live?!
I reached back, intending to give him a shove, but he caught my wrist and pulled me into his arms instead.
Then, a soft, light kiss landed on my forehead.
“Goodnight. Get some rest.”
I practically floated all the way home.
My mind was completely filled with the spell Zhao Chunian had cast on me with that forehead kiss.
Wang Xiaoxiao sent me a gossipy message asking for the latest progress.
I told her that tomorrow, my dream guy and I were going to my home to visit Ms. Zhao and Mr. Gu.
Wang Xiaoxiao replied with just two words.
“Holy shit.”
Actually, I kind of wanted to say those two words myself.
In just one week of knowing each other, my relationship with my dream guy had gone from having absolutely nothing to do with each other to him being welcomed into my family home.
This pace was faster than a bullet train.
