Pathological Heart Lock - Chapter 15
Chapter 15
I did my best to mask my terror of Shen Qinghe, nestling into his arms and repeatedly insisting that I wanted to eat the teriyaki chicken rice from the stall at the school gates.
Left with no choice, Shen Qinghe relented and went out to buy it.
I watched with my own eyes as he dressed and left the bedroom.
Five minutes passed before I tremblingly climbed out of bed and pulled at the door handle. It didn’t budge.
As expected, Shen Qinghe had locked it from the outside.
If I wasn’t mistaken, this was likely still that small laboratory.
He had simply renovated this particular room to look exactly like our home in reality.
In that case, I could still escape by jumping out the window.
I smashed the glass and cautiously poked my head out.
At that moment, the view of the residential complex with its towering buildings transformed into a desolate wilderness.
This really was still the laboratory; I was upstairs.
Suffering a leg injury was better than being trapped here until I died.
I took a deep breath, summoned my courage, and leaped from the window.
Then, I was caught in a firm embrace.
I caught the faint scent of pine.
Opening my eyes, I saw Xie Lizhi, whom I hadn’t seen in a long time.
He was the one who had caught me below the building.
His arms tightened around me as he stared at me without blinking, his usually gentle eyes clouded with an unreadable, dark emotion.
“I found you, baby.”
His voice was raspy, and I sensed a hint of danger.
Subconsciously feeling guilty, I pulled my collar up. I simply buried my head in Xie Lizhi’s chest, not daring to let him see the hickeys on my neck.
“Hubby, what took you so long? I was scared to death. Some pervert kidnapped me and wanted to cut me open for experiments.”
It was a classic case of the guilty party filing the suit first.
I discreetly bit my broken lower lip, my tone sounding aggrieved and pitiful. “I was so scared that I bit my own lip.”
Xie Lizhi looked at my torn lip, his gaze darkening further. Without a word, he carried me to the car and tucked me into the passenger seat.
“Let’s go. We’re going back to the manor.”
Xie Lizhi’s behavior seemed normal.
He didn’t seem to notice the hickeys or the suggestive marks on my body at all.
I breathed a sigh of relief, assuming he was just quiet today because he was exhausted from searching for me.
