Seduced the Obsessive NPC and Ran - Chapter 52
Chapter 52
Yan Jinge found it amusing but didn’t let it show on his face. Instead, he said lazily, “How do you know I’d be reluctant? I’m perfectly willing to part with it.”
His tone was relaxed, clearly having stepped out of character.
Song Zhengjun laughed along with him.
Yan Jinge reached out to carefully shield the fake blood on his arm, preventing it from dripping further.
He asked, “Have you eaten yet?”
“No.”
Yan Jinge then said, “I haven’t either. Let’s order takeout together later.”
“Alright.” Song Zhengjun instinctively checked the time. He reached out to hold Yan Jinge’s soft hand, and the two walked forward side by side. He knew perfectly well that there were definitely work meals provided on set, especially for someone like Yan Jinge who was filming night scenes-how could there be no food?
Just a moment ago, the assistant had even bought late-night snacks and distributed them to everyone in the crew.
Yet Yan Jinge hadn’t eaten.
Clearly, he was waiting for Song Zhengjun.
Song Zhengjun’s heart suddenly felt sweet.
After Yan Jinge finished removing his makeup, they headed to the hotel together. They ordered what they wanted on the way, and not long after they arrived, the delivery came. The two of them sat at the dining table, feeding each other bite by bite.
When it was time for bed, Song Zhengjun went to shower first.
There were many things to handle at the company, and Song Zhengjun had been tired all day. Even though his body was exhausted, his mind was highly stimulated.
He stayed awake, holding Yan Jinge in his arms without speaking.
One moment, he was thinking about how Yan Jinge had accepted his confession; even though several days had passed, thinking about it now still felt like a dream.
The next moment, he thought about the next world, where Yan Jinge would forget him and they would have to start all over again, which made his heart feel sour and bitter.
Yan Jinge, however, didn’t think as much as Song Zhengjun.
He had been intensely focused while filming and was already exhausted. The moment he hit the bed, he fell asleep almost instantly.
The next morning.
Yan Jinge woke up feeling refreshed.
Since they were staying at a hotel close to the set, he couldn’t help but sleep in. He had assumed that Song Zhengjun would be gone by the time he woke up, but to his surprise, the man had slept in with him.
The corners of Yan Jinge’s mouth curled up as he leaned in to hug Song Zhengjun.
There were dark circles under Song Zhengjun’s eyes.
He instinctively opened his eyes and pulled Yan Jinge into his arms.
After a night together, their body temperatures had long since merged, making it hard to tell where one ended and the other began.
Yan Jinge rested his head against Song Zhengjun’s shoulder, closing his eyes to rest a bit longer.
Song Zhengjun asked, “Still sleepy?”
Yan Jinge replied, “A little.”
“Do you have scenes this morning?”
Yan Jinge reached out to grab his phone, squinting at the screen. “One scene.” Yan Jinge was always responsible regarding his work. After confirming the time, he snuggled in Song Zhengjun’s arms for a while longer before climbing out of bed.
“What do you want to eat?”
Song Zhengjun said, “Anything is fine.”
Yan Jinge called for hotel room service.
After they finished eating, they walked into the filming set side by side.
Yan Jinge greeted Director Xu and the others before heading off to makeup. Xu Tang turned his head and saw Song Zhengjun looking like he was in his own home. The man sat directly down on a small folding stool, eyes closed to rest despite the dark circles underneath. Xu Tang couldn’t help but be amused. “Didn’t sleep well last night?”
Song Zhengjun gave a low grunt of affirmation.
Xu Tang raised an eyebrow.
Song Zhengjun would actually rather endure sleep deprivation just to accompany Yan Jinge?
Xu Tang had known early on that Song Zhengjun was serious about this relationship, but he hadn’t expected him to be serious to this extent.
However, Yan Jinge’s acting was excellent, and his personality was gentle and well-behaved. In time, his achievements likely wouldn’t be lower than those of some Best Actor award winners.
Xu Tang was just offering routine concern. Seeing that Song Zhengjun was indeed tired and didn’t seem to want to talk much, he didn’t say anything more.
He had plenty to do on set, so he simply told Song Zhengjun to make himself at home and went off to get busy.
Meanwhile, the fact that Song Zhengjun was staying on set was noticed by others.
This group of people was basically the team brought in by Xu Tang and the Deputy Director. They were close-knit, and word spread quickly; it didn’t take long for everyone to find out Song Zhengjun’s identity.
“Isn’t Yan Jinge’s benefactor being a bit too blatant?”
Yi Haotian’s assistant tentatively spoke to the script supervisor. “Didn’t we all sign non-disclosure agreements? Even if he’s the investor-benefactor, letting him stay here like this all the time… isn’t it a bit inappropriate?”
The script supervisor paused and looked at Yi Haotian’s assistant with a half-smile. “What’s inappropriate about it?”
“…Well, it creates a bad impression.” The assistant was acting on Yi Haotian’s instructions to come and argue these points with the script supervisor. The goal was to get the entire crew on the same side as Yi Haotian, so they would all dislike Yan Jinge together.
However, the script supervisor wasn’t that easy to fool.
Hearing the assistant’s words, he continued his work while letting out a cold snort. “If you hate it, go tell someone who cares. Why are you telling me this?”
Was this assistant’s brain malfunctioning?
He wasn’t stupid; he certainly wasn’t going to let himself be used as a pawn.
Ever since Yan Jinge joined the cast, his attitude toward them had been great. He never used his celebrity status to boss people around, nor did he act like a diva. He even frequently had his assistant bring them food and drinks.
As the saying goes, ‘one’s mouth is soft after eating someone’s food.’
The script supervisor certainly wasn’t going to speak ill of Yan Jinge on a whim.
Besides, Song Zhengjun’s status was right there; he wasn’t someone a script supervisor could just gossip about.
Most importantly, Song Zhengjun was just sitting over there. He wasn’t getting in anyone’s way. He could stay as long as he wanted. What did it have to do with him?
Even if something went wrong, it would be Director Xu’s or Yan Jinge’s responsibility. As long as it didn’t affect his own interests, there was no problem.
The assistant’s approach made it clear he was trying to stir up trouble.
“Alright, I’ve got work to do, so I’m done talking to you.” The continuity clerk slipped away, but before leaving, he decided to offer a piece of well-meaning advice. “Do you know why Xiao Ming’s grandfather lived so long? Because he minded his own business. As long as the blame doesn’t fall on your head in the end, let things be.”
Of course, the assistant knew the joke about Xiao Ming’s grandfather.
But this was his job; he didn’t have a choice.
Frowning, he could only continue looking for new targets.
However, those who agreed with the assistant were mostly small-time players who couldn’t make a splash, and there were very few of them. Those with even slightly higher positions didn’t fall for the assistant’s tricks. Left with no other option, he returned to Yi Haotian’s side in defeat and reported the results.
Yi Haotian’s face turned ashen.
He couldn’t help but mutter, “No wonder everyone wants to find a sugar daddy these days…”
Look at this.
The benefits were just too obvious, weren’t they?
Since ancient times, wherever there were people, there was drama. Even with the decent artists Yi Haotian had worked with before, there were always people gossiping behind their backs. Sometimes, a casual remark would be over-interpreted, leading to long-held grudges.
Unless someone was a top-tier Best Actor or Actress with a gentle personality, there would always be this much nonsense. Yan Jinge, however, was just a newcomer.
Having a benefactor… was a bit too convenient, wasn’t it?
Just as he was thinking this, Yi Haotian’s phone rang.
He looked down and saw it was his manager.
Frowning, Yi Haotian immediately stepped a few paces away.
By the time he finished the call, his expression had worsened.
Seeing this, the assistant asked cautiously, “Haotian, what happened?”
“Damn it.”
Yi Haotian cursed, “People online are demanding the ‘failed prank’ video. They’re saying that since it was for ‘show effect,’ there needs to be an actual ‘show’ to see.”
The assistant gave a dry laugh.
Wasn’t that perfectly normal?
Yi Haotian’s gaze was cold. “My manager said he can handle it for me, but it’ll cost money. And it’s not a small amount.”
The assistant remained silent.
Yi Haotian was feeling agitated. What kind of terrible idea was this from his manager, insisting they claim they were filming a video at the time…
Besides, it was just one video, right?
There were so many people in the restaurant that day; someone must have recorded it. He could just find someone with a good angle, buy the rights, do some quick editing, and it would be fine. For such a simple task, his manager had the nerve to open his mouth and ask for a hundred thousand yuan?
If he had that kind of money on hand right now, would he have fallen to this point?
…Instead of letting the manager handle it, he might as well do it himself. It wouldn’t even cost that much.
With that thought in mind, Yi Haotian made his decision. He instructed his assistant to find the people who were eating at the restaurant that day, find out who had filmed a video, and buy a suitable one.
The assistant immediately agreed.
A few days later, the news about Yi Haotian’s “player” persona being exposed was quickly suppressed by a video.
“I feel much better after seeing this video. It’s just like the team said-he was just filming a video. It makes sense; he works so hard, how could he be the type to two-time people?”
“LMAO, I want to see more of this series. Especially the expressions of the people around them; I almost spat out my food.”
“Yeah, please release more videos like this! It’s too funny.”
Yan Jinge merely smiled and moved on when he saw these comments. Even if Yi Haotian managed to get through this crisis, the truth would eventually come out. Unless one refrained from doing it in the first place, Yi Haotian probably wouldn’t be able to control himself. Sooner or later, he would crash and burn because of it again.
Yan Jinge just had to wait.
For the next few days, Yan Jinge focused on filming. Yi Haotian also kept a low profile and didn’t cause any more trouble.
Yan Jinge didn’t have a massive amount of screen time in the production, as he was only part of one story arc. All in all, it took nearly a month and a half to finish filming all his scenes.
On the day he wrapped, given Yan Jinge’s status, there normally wouldn’t have been a wrap party. Usually, they would just buy a bouquet of flowers and have a small celebration, since Yan Jinge was only the Third Male Lead. However, because of his special relationship with Song Zhengjun, Director Xu still planned to take the Deputy Director and others out for a few drinks with Yan Jinge and Song Zhengjun after work.
Before leaving, Director Xu asked Jin Zuidong, “Zuidong, do you want to come?”
Jin Zuidong hesitated for a moment, then gave a gentle smile. “I think I’ll pass, Director Xu. I haven’t been sleeping well lately, and I’m afraid if I go out with you all, I won’t be able to sleep again.”
Director Xu knew that Jin Zuidong hadn’t been in the best state lately, so he nodded. “Alright.”
The group walked right past Yi Haotian and left.
Seeing this, the surrounding staff members all had their own thoughts. Yi Haotian felt like he had lost face. With a dark expression, he turned to his assistant and asked, “What’s the status with that President Li I asked you to set a meeting with?”
The assistant quickly pulled out his phone. “President Li has agreed to meet, but she’s currently abroad. She said she’ll wait until she returns to the country…”
“When is she coming back?”
“In two weeks.”
“Fine.”
Yi Haotian could afford to wait a mere two weeks. Once President Li returned, he would have a backer too. When that time came, they would see who between him and Yan Jinge could go further in the entertainment industry.
