The Rebellious Disciple Was Me All Along - Chapter 2
I truly had never entertained improper thoughts about Ji Lanshuang.
I was a cold, unfeeling woman with eyes only for cultivation. The loveliest flesh in the world was no more than a passing cloud to me.
I was confident that even if Ji Lanshuang lay naked before me, my gaze would not stray by so much as half an inch.
At least, I had been confident before he actually did it.
But accidents always struck without warning.
For seven years, I had used the sword in my hand to drive off countless amorous pests.
However wild or deranged they were, none could harm so much as a hair on Ji Lanshuang’s head while I stood in their way.
After so long, both Ji Lanshuang and I lowered our guard. We no longer considered those lunatics worth worrying about.
The inevitable result?
One careless lapse gave a young fox demon his chance.
Behind an adorable, meek-looking face, the brat grinned as he felled Ji Lanshuang with a jar of drugged wine.
Even after I cut off his fox tail and strung him upside down, beaten half to death, I was still dumbfounded.
I demanded incredulously, “Are you three years old? You’ll put anything in your mouth just because someone hands it to you?”
Ji Lanshuang looked even more bewildered than I did.
Covering his rapidly warming face, he seemed both aggrieved and confused. “You didn’t stop him, so I assumed he was an ordinary junior who posed no threat. Why did you let someone like that in?”
Because I had slipped away to send a secret message, trading the latest news about him for this month’s antidote.
Feeling a rare stab of guilt, I changed the subject with conspicuous stiffness.
“That isn’t important.”
“You should be thinking about how to purge the drug from your body.”
The damned fox had laced the wine with Hehuan Powder, a vicious and obscene aphrodisiac poison.
If the victim did not promptly join with another person, the poison would invade every meridian and destroy their cultivation.
With time, it would even erode the victim’s reason until they became a rutting beast driven by nothing but lust.
The fox demon hanging from the tree refused to give up.
“Since matters have come to this, Immortal Lord, why not share a night of pleasure with me? I promise, once you taste its delights, you’ll understand its wonders and never be able to stop.”
“If the male form displeases you,” he continued, his voice turning cloyingly sweet, “I can become a woman. Or both—”
I listened with great interest. Ji Lanshuang’s expression grew darker by the second.
“Xie Sui, pull out his tongue.” A glacial light flashed in Ji Lanshuang’s eyes. “If he cannot tell us where the antidote is, he has no use for it.”
I had not heard nearly enough, but I would never undermine Ji Lanshuang before an outsider.
When I truly drew my sword and approached, the fox demon finally panicked.
Clapping a hand over his mouth, he cried, “I’m not lying! Hehuan Powder has no antidote. There is no cure except intercourse!”
Even when my sword point pierced the surface of his tongue, his story did not change.
I glanced back at Ji Lanshuang. “He appears to be telling the truth.”
“As if I need you to tell me that!” Ji Lanshuang trembled with rage. “Throw this useless fox out. I’m sick of looking at him.”
For once, I did not obey at once.
Hesitating, I asked, “If we drive him away, how do you plan to purge the poison?”
With Ji Lanshuang’s universal allure, he could summon a crowd of willing human antidotes with a crook of one finger.
The problem was that he wanted none of them.
My gaze drifted to his long, elegant hand, the tendons standing taut beneath his skin.
Was Ji Lanshuang planning to handle it himself?
Surely that would not work.
Meeting my peculiar stare, a vein throbbed at his temple.
“Where are you looking? Control your eyes—and your filthy mind!”
Oh. Caught.
I innocently looked away and pretended I had imagined nothing at all. Then I swung my arm in a wide arc and hurled the half-dead fox demon into the sky.
After dusting the fur from my hands, I tactfully cupped my fists and took my leave.
“The fox demon is off the mountain. You should no longer need me, Master, so… good luck.”
Whether he intended to save himself or summon some attractive admirer was none of my concern.
Ji Lanshuang guarded against me as if I were a wolf. At a time like this, I was surely the last person he wanted to see.
And yet, just as I turned to leave, he caught my sleeve.
With the very hand I had just been imagining.
Instead of disappearing beneath his own robes as I had expected, his slender fingers slid slowly into my sleeve and tentatively hooked around my hand.
“At a time like this, why are you still pretending to be decent?”
Ji Lanshuang narrowed his shimmering eyes. His damp lips, like crabapple blossoms in the rain, parted on a stream of hot breath.
The heat reddened the rims of his eyes—and stirred an awkward warmth in me.
“Ji Lanshuang, I don’t—”
Before I could finish refusing, the beauty burning with desire tugged open his collar with his free hand, revealing a broad expanse of pale skin flushed pink.
The instant I saw it, my breath caught. My mind exploded into blankness.
Ji Lanshuang’s breathing quickened, yet he still found the strength to taunt me viciously.
“Xie Sui, are you incapable?”
My eyes flew wide.
Who was he calling incapable? A real woman never admitted she could not perform!
“If you’re capable, stop standing there like an idiot and get over here.”
He guided my hand onto his sweat-slicked body.
“Rebellious disciple, does your master have to teach you how to sleep with me himself?”
