What Do I Do If My Yandere Boyfriend Wants to Stab Me? - Chapter 2
The sight of a classroom full of students finally let me breathe again.
I found a seat in the back, only to realize Xu Qiao had sat some distance away instead of beside me.
Puzzled, I forced down my fear and walked over.
“Why aren’t you sitting with me?”
Xu Qiao pressed his lips together. “You told me to pretend I didn’t know you at school.”
I paused.
Right. I had hated Xu Qiao before. I was only dating him because of that bet.
Nobody liked him. Everyone instinctively kept their distance, and the moment they saw me speaking to him, whispers broke out around us.
“Song Qichi, what’s going on? Don’t tell me you two are close.”
“Wow, the class loner actually has a friend?”
“Song Qichi probably just feels sorry for him. Those two don’t even look like they live in the same world.”
Xu Qiao showed no reaction. His head was always bowed, his long bangs hiding half his face so no one could see all of him.
He hid himself without making a sound.
The original Song Qichi probably had not realized what kind of madman he had provoked until the moment he died.
If I wanted to live, I had to make Xu Qiao abandon the idea of killing me.
I took his hand and laced our fingers together, then looked coldly at the others.
“I don’t pity him. Xu Qiao is my boyfriend. I like him.”
Everyone went still and stared at us, dumbfounded. The room fell silent before they awkwardly returned to their seats.
When I turned back, Xu Qiao was staring straight at me, his lips pressed into a thin line. The dark mole at their corner seemed even more pronounced.
Unease crawled through me, but I made myself continue. “I treated you badly before. You’re my boyfriend. From now on, we’ll sit together.”
Xu Qiao lowered his head until I could no longer read his expression.
“Can I?”
“Mm-hmm!”
The moment I confirmed it, his breathing quickened and his grip tightened around my hand. He seemed almost excited.
“I like you so much… I like A-Chi.”
I remembered him calling me A-Chi once before. Back then, I had snapped at him and even hit him hard enough to draw blood.
He had never used the name again after that.
I did not know why he dared to now. All I could do was nod and answer softly, “Okay.”
During class, Xu Qiao barely paid attention. He took plenty of notes, but he also kept stealing glances at me.
I felt helpless—and, suddenly, a little sorry for him.
He had no family, no friends, and the only person he loved had treated him like a toy.
Xu Qiao might have been slow in certain ways, but he was not stupid. He knew the original Song Qichi cheated. He simply allowed it, because he cherished the lover he had struggled so hard to obtain.
Even if the relationship was a lie.
Still, I had no business pitying him. I was an unlucky bastard in my own right.
We only had one class that day. Afterward, I took Xu Qiao to a Western restaurant.
It was the lunch rush, and the place was the only restaurant near campus with any open tables.
Xu Qiao’s skin was so pale that the blue veins at his wrist stood out clearly, yet his thin lips were a vivid red. The dark mole beside them formed a striking contrast. His long black eyes fixed on me, cheeks flushed and gaze brimming with what looked like love.
“It’s the first time A-Chi has eaten with me,” he said. “I’m so happy.”
My pursuit of him had been painfully halfhearted. I added him as a contact, sent a few messages, told him I liked him—and won him over without putting in any real effort.
I had never even bought him a meal.
I rubbed my nose and laughed awkwardly. “Is that so? Well, we’ll eat together lots of times from now on.”
Xu Qiao cut my steak for me and made sure I had napkins and the best of every dish. He was gentle and attentive. If I had not firmly refused, he would probably have fed me bite by bite.
He handled his knife and fork with practiced elegance. The mole beside his lips moved faintly as he chewed.
Goose bumps erupted across my skin.
The image from the novel forced itself into my mind, and my stomach lurched.
“Sorry!”
I bolted for the bathroom and vomited violently into a toilet.
Xu Qiao knocked on the stall door. “A-Chi, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing. I’m fine!”
By then, the sound of his voice was enough to make me afraid—and make my stomach hurt.
I was an ordinary person. Asking me to spend time with a psychopath like him was simply too much.
When I came out, I pretended to feel ill so I could end the date. Xu Qiao offered to look after me, but I refused.
He looked disappointed.
I fought to keep my hand from shaking, patted his head, and said gently, “I can’t bear to make you take care of me. I’ll be fine after some rest. Be good.”
He brightened at once. His damp-looking eyes stayed locked on me, and he pressed his lips together shyly.
“Okay. I’ll be good.”
He was unexpectedly easy to placate.
