When My Sister Was Bound to a Love Quest System - Chapter 2

My sister froze in the middle of taking off her coat.

She stared at me in disbelief. “Qing?!”

Everyone turned to look.

I ran over and held out my own coat. “You just got soaked, Sis. Wear mine.”

The rain hadn’t let up all day, and the temperature had plunged. The instant I took off my coat, I sneezed.

My sister shot to her feet in alarm and wrapped it right back around me. “You can’t afford to catch cold. Put this on! Why didn’t you tell me you were coming home? You scared me half to death.”

I burrowed into her soft embrace and looked up. “I just got back. I’ve already transferred here. We can go to school together again.”

Unfortunately, I was one grade below her, so we couldn’t be in the same class.

Lin Wei folded her arms and gave a little laugh once she recovered. “So this is the sister who’s been recuperating overseas?”

“Well, well.” Another boy joined in. “Who knew you had such a pretty sister? Aren’t you going to introduce us? How about it—our families could become in-laws. I might even put in a good word for you with Yuan.”

He Yuan still wore that same dismissive expression. He lazily lifted his eyes. “You could make her sound like a goddess and I still wouldn’t want her.”

I looked at my sister. “Sis, they—”

Her expression changed.

She snatched Lin Wei’s phone, opened the gallery, selected the video, and deleted it in one fluid motion.

By the time Lin Wei reacted, my sister had already tossed the phone aside. She flicked back her hair, took my hand, and strode toward the door.

In an icy voice, she said, “Classmates, I have no idea what you’re talking about. Don’t make such tasteless jokes again.”

That evening, I secretly saw her raging at empty air in her bedroom.

“Who cares if He Yuan’s affection score is still zero?”

“I almost lost all dignity in front of my sister today. Do you understand that she matters far more than those pieces of garbage?”

“I’m so mad!”

A few seconds later, her voice abruptly calmed.

“Fine. I get it.”

“Sis.”

In my pajamas, I carefully pushed open the door. “Can I sleep with you tonight?”

She smiled. “Of course.”

I curled up beside her and drifted off in peace.

When I rolled over in the middle of the night, I saw her furtively pick up her phone.

She was messaging He Yuan.

[Something possessed me today. I’m so sorry, so sorry.]

[Is Lin Wei angry? It was all my fault. I promise I’ll never do it again.]

[Yuan, please give me one more chance. I’ll apologize properly tomorrow. Please?]

No reply came.

As if she sensed me watching, my sister turned her head.

Our eyes met.

My brows drew together. I knew she must have her reasons, but I had never seen her so helpless.

“Sis, do you really like that person?”

“Of course. He Yuan may be a little aloof, but…” She paused, clearly racking her brain for a virtue. “But he’s handsome.”

She turned off her screen and adopted a solemn expression. “Actually, this is an impossible challenge I set for myself. Think about it. If I can win over a boy everyone agrees is impossible to pursue, that proves I’m amazing, right?”

Understanding dawned on me.

She made an excellent point.

Now I understood.

I would try one of her challenges too. Whenever she said things like this in the past, it was always to encourage me to be brave and try new things.

As luck would have it, He Yuan’s younger brother was in my class.
