My Boyfriend Tops the Horror Game Rankings—and I'm the Ghost in His Dungeon - Chapter 2
I hung upside down from a tree, my long hair spilling toward the ground.
The first player to pass beneath me was a woman. She gave my motionless body one cool glance and kept walking.
The second player did jump when he saw my hair. Unfortunately, he recovered at once—and set it on fire.
Flames raced through its entire length.
Monster NPCs could feel pain too, but I could not show it in front of a player. An NPC had her dignity.
I tried to chase the awful man, but he vanished in the blink of an eye. Meanwhile, the fire in my hair only grew. As I ran, the wind carried sparks into the grass and started a roaring wildfire.
I could not worry about that. I dove headfirst into a nearby river.
The split-mouth doll pulled me out.
It had suffered too. A player had deliberately sewn its split mouth shut, leaving it unable to speak. I removed the thread, and it flung itself into my arms in tears.
“Bad people! The players here are horrible! They sewed my mouth shut!”
“They even tried to pull the stuffing out of my belly to use as kindling! I want to go home!”
I touched my own charred hair.
I wanted to go home too.
We clung to each other and cried, unaware that the livestream chat had witnessed everything.
“This is hilarious. How can an SSS-rank dungeon have monsters this weak?”
“God Su and his team killed most of the strong ones. Only small fry like these are left, surviving in the cracks.”
“God Su is incredible! When will I ever get to clear a dungeon with him?”
“Stop dreaming. God Su is busy registering his marriage with me.”
“…Get lost. I’m going to throw up. As if God Su would ever look at you.”
“He’d still choose me over a loser like you.”
“How did this turn into an argument? Someone as powerful and aloof as God Su would never bother finding a partner.”
“Agreed. Why would a god care about an ordinary person?”
…
The forest fire spread.
Afraid it would attract more players, the split-mouth doll and I decided to find another place to scare people. The system map showed a wooden cabin three kilometers east. All players passed it soon after entering the dungeon, making it a suitable ambush point for weaker monsters.
We followed the map for an hour and got lost.
Then a group of passing players startled us. Their bodies were drenched in blood from the monsters they had killed. They looked far scarier than either of us.
“Hahaha! Since when are the monsters in this dungeon such cowards? They scared themselves!”
“What idiots. Getting lost inside their own dungeon—that’s a first.”
“Poor little things. Hide, quick. They might survive someone else, but God Su would kill them in a second.”
“That’s too much. God Su only fights the dungeon’s most terrifying bosses. Why would he bother with small fry? They’ll probably scare themselves to death first.”
“Am I the only one who thinks the female monster is adorable? She even braided her newly grown hair so it wouldn’t get in the way.”
Most of the chat was laughing at me. Some viewers were practically begging to watch the players torture us to death.
I knew nothing about that.
All I knew was that we had run into another major problem:
a player who had no intention of letting the split-mouth doll or me leave.
